I had resection done 7 weeks ago. After still having pain, I had a ct scan done on April 2nd which showed a large cyst on my rt ovary. Also a spot on my liver and adrenal gland, which I will have to do a repeat scan in 6 mos. An ultrasound was done on Tuesday. My doctor called today and said the cyst is gone, it must have ruptured. This sounds so strange to me. Wouldn't I have been in a lot of pain? I still have pain now and then. I just don't feel sure of the diagnosis. Has this happened to anyone? I guess once you have cancer you worry about every little thing.
Thank you!
Christine

    Hi Christine...
I had a hysterectomy many many years ago.. the Dr who did the surgery said that it looked like I had many cysts that had burst... I was so full of endometriosis... I don't know if the burst is a good or a bad thing... I would tend to think.. not so good for your body...

    Hi Christine,
I don't know if you are aware of this (I wasn't) but we all have follicular cysts that form (even if you are on the pill). They occur every month. I think the way it works is these cysts compete for dominance and the biggest one, the one that contains the egg, ruptures and that is when you ovulate. If you are on the pill you still have follicular cysts that form and then they either rupture or are reabsorbed I think....Anyway, the tech should have known because the cysts are hollow, where a tumor is solid?
Hmmmm.....Well, good news that it's gone, bad that they put you through all that undue stress.
Here's hoping the liver thing is also a cyst (I have one!). I was just thinking about how we have "extra" of almost everything, extra colon, liver that grows back, 2 adrenal glands, kidneys, etc. It's a good thing! lol.

ovarian cysts appear and disappear quite often. They also rupture. My sister-in-law had five or six rupture, it was a little painful, but for the most part she didn't know it had happened. I have a cyst that appeared on my left ovary on my last CT scan ( it wasn't there before) my oncologist told me that the odds were it would just be gone on my next CT Scan - it is a cyst not a tumor. It is also not uncommon that they just go away. Hope this helps, but ovarian cysts are apparently common and a bit wierd. Some of it depends on whether you are post menapausal or not. I am - so they look at the cysts carefully, if you are not, I gather they come and go with some regularity.

For several years I was taking pill and during that time my periods stopped for about 5+ years, but during my reconnection surgery for colon cancer in 2/07 I had a very small PE in my right lung so I had to stop taking the pill. In April 07 my body began to regulate itself and my periods came back with a vengenance :(

From that point I have been having cysts show-up my check-up CT Scans, so my GYN has me doing pelvic ultrasounds about every 6 months and so far the only issue is the left ovary which still shows a cyst. I have also had two CA125 blood tests done. This is the marker for ovary cancer and both of those came back negative.

According to my GYN Group, ovarian cysts are normal and most women don't even know they have them.

    I hope this helps
