My last post was when I went to Cancer Center. Well, that didnt work out. Will change my opinion....Bad.....
After that I went back to my dear oncologist in Dallas....had chemo last week and end up in the Hospital. It looks like ( they r still doing labs) that the oxiplatin (rare case) damage one of my kidneys...spent 8 days at the hospital...everithing began with a severe back pain... ( the same one I had at Cancer Center and they blame it to been in the chair taking my chemo for 7 hours)and chills.....So....my Dr. is still sending, taking analysis to make sure that is was the oxipaltin.
I do have 1 question....I have been having an upset stomach ( vomiting on an off) for the last 5 days .....what could be the reason ?
You are always in my prayers...
Love
Ileana

Could be nothing. But, if it comes with pain similar to labor pains...off and on...have your doc check for partial bowel obstruction...
I have had 8 of them, all but the first one I cleared myself. That nasty small bowel starts feeling underappreciated, so it snarles itself...lol!
My clearing technique? Water, Walking, and GENTLE bearing down when there is a wave...

    Hugs, kathi

    Hey Kathi,

I was wondering how long it takes for you to work these blockages out when you have them and if you've been able to figure out what is causing them? I had one last Sunday night and mine lasted 11 hrs. and I have nausea and vomiting every 20-30 minutes until it clears. I usually fall asleep and when I wake up the pains are gone. This was my 1st one in 2 years so I'm real disappointed for it happening again; I thought they were caused before from chemo and now I'm afraid they can happen anytime. Your opinion is appreciated.

Usually it is when I am not minding my diet and hydration very well....seems to bring it on...BTW, even those lucky enough to have never had cancer get these...lol!
Mine seems to frequent one area...right where the large bowel was released from my other organs and redirected so that my new pouch could be made...it is either scar tissue that the small bowel gets stuck in, or it's a bit compromised, itself, from the radiation....
I agree, Kandy, they are NO FUN!!! I am reminded of my daughters' births...lol!
Hope you never have another one!!!

    Hugs, Kathi

Oh, and my GI guy said that if they last more than 15 hours, you should get it checked...you don't want your bowel getting permanent damage...and, at that point, think about all the great drugs (lol).....

    Ileana,

Sorry it didn't work out at CTCA. Have you talked to your doctor about the upset stomach? Maybe it's related to your meds. Keeping you in my prayers.

    God bless,

Hi Ileana,I've been thinking about you,I'm so sorry that you didn't like your experience at Cancer Center, but at least now you are with a Dr. that you love and trust, I'll pray that you get well soon.

It sounds like several other folks have given you good information to go on. One thing you might consider is stress. I went through a period where I was sick almost every morning and couldn't figure it out. I started taking Atavan (1/2 mg) and it helped calm me down and get rid of the nausea.
