Hi, anyone had twitching in your body at night? I get jerking movements off and on at night but my wife says my whole body twitches head to toe (mouth, eyes, fingers) during the night! Happy I'm not aware of it but don't know what's causing it. Thinking maybe pain medication? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Twitching generally occurs as a result of an overwrought nervous system unloading impulses. It is most common during rest from stress and strain.
Try an extra dose of Magnesium - Magnesium is often called the anti-stress mineral because it has a calming effect when taken. Its soothing properties induce restful sleep.

Ask her if you pause in breathing at these times. My beau did (no cancer, but heart disease), and when I mentioned it to his pulmonologist, she tested and found sleep apnea...simple fix...a 'breathing machine' called a CPAP....He sleeps GREAT now, and actually has improved in his health!

What pain medication are you on? Some people will react to morphine in that manner. KathiM's comment about sleep apnea could apply as well. Some antinausea meds like compazine can also cause it.

Once in a while I feel my body doing that. I take morphine for pain.

It could also be caffine; too much during the day or too late in the day can cause that at night. Try to stop any caffine containing drinks by noon and see if that helps.

I do the same thing but i do it if I get very still as relaxed. Wish I knew what caused it as well as sometimes it is very annoying. I have sleep apnea and take percocet for my pain but did it before starting the pain meds.

Thank you all for your input! I do take a high dose of pain medication, as all the discs in my lower back are bulging due to car accident. So perhaps that's the culprit. I'm a bit concerned as my original pathology report states " Perineural Invasion -present". Wonder if it is spreading through my nervous system?
