I have recently been diagnosed with stage III, A, uterine carcinosarcoma, and all the visible cancer was removed. I will be starting radiation therapy next week for 5 weeks, not sure about chemo yet, but probably. I know this is one that has a big tendency to reoccur. Are there any 5 year survivors out there? Please help, thanks.

Hi. I'm so sorry about your diagnosis. You have a challenge ahead, but keep the faith. Unfortunately I don't know anything about carcino sarcomas of the uterus, my experience being an adenocarcinoma. However, being also a colon cancer survivor, I have read some posts on that board regarding radiation therapy in the pelvic area. There can be some uncomfortable issues when radiation is done in the pelvic area. I would recommend that you speak with a couple of people on the colorectal site regarding what to expect from the radiation and/or chemo you will be doing. KierstenRx is an excellent resource, as are a few others. I am praying for you.

I am sorry to hear about your cancer. I am a 3 year surivor of IIB uterine cancer with radiation treatments. I had a radical hsyterectomy followed by external and internal radiation for 5 weeks. I was told that if you don't take hormone replacement that it is less likely to reaccur, but that is only a few doctors opions. Do you mind me asking how old you are? I was 37 when diagnosed. Keep the faith.
