3 weeks after surgery

Hi New to this just trying to get thru afterafects os surgery. any advise

    Just get some rest and let your family members take care of you. What you have been through is really tough and emotional. It takes time to get over it. At least it did with me even after almost a year of this I still catch myself getting emotional.

    Also remember if you ever need to talk to someone or need advise this is the place to come to.

    It's been four weeks today for me. I had a double mastectomy. I had a relatively painless surgery, just lots of sore spots and I've noticed that the odd feelings are starting to get stronger. The tingling and numbness and sharp prickling. The doctor told me that is normal. It's just the nerves healing. I've found that exercise helps me and I've almost got all of my range of motion back. Like Jackie said, it's very emotional and you need to take it easy and let others do things for you. Nice warm showers and short walks help.

    Thanks for asking this question. I will be having double mastectomy Dec. 21...it is good to get some of theis advice ahead of time. Sorry I don't have any to offer you, though I agree that you need to let other people take care of you. Personally, I have already informed them that I fully expect to be ensconced upon the royal couch and waited upon hand and foot from the time I return from the hospital until New Year's at least. (I'm not know to be a very patient patient, you might all say a prayer for my poor family).

    Does it help to look forward to when you will be all better?

    I am about 2 weeks postop bilateral mastectomy. I am finding this more irritating than painful. I am looking forward to getting this harness off and all these pads. I am not a very patient person and EVERYTHING has been trying my patience BIG TIME! But, I am hanging in there and following docs directions. Ho hum . . .
