Hello,
I am a new member, and I hope somebody will answer.
I had around of radiation 3 years ago for breast cancer.

Last July I was diagnosticated with ovarian cancer.
I will have my 3rd round of chemo next week.
I am extremely tired but my main problem is needle like pain all over my body as soon I touch my skin.
Am I the only one with that neuropatic pain ?

So sorry you have to be here. The neuropathy pain is pretty normal for taxol. I took vitamin B and L-glutamine to help mine. Make sure you talk to your Dr about it. If you don't mind share a little more about yourself.

Sending lots of prayers and hugs your way.

You said that you took vitamines B6 but what dosage, I know that if I take to much it will worsen my condition. What about
    Neurotin ?
Have you some experience with it ?
My appointment with my onco is only on Wednesday ( the day before my 3Rd chemo )
I am french speaking, so excuse my spelling mistakes.

    Hello!
I'm sorry we must meet this way, but so glad that we can all share this journey together, with support, hugs, love & prayers!

I agree with Bonnie. Vitamin B-6 and L-Glutamine was helpful to me as well. I did try Neurontin for a while, with no success. And I found the side affects were just as bad as the problem.

You may want to 'google' 'B-6 (or L-Glutamine) for neuropathy'. You may also find a holistic doctor who can advise you. Different dosages work differently for all of us.

Find comfort in the fact that once you stop chemo the neuropathy will subside. Mine was so bad that I couldn't even touch my arms or feet. They burned and hurt so bad. It would wake me up and keep me up all night. It also made it difficult to walk. But it definitely has diminished greatly, although it takes time.

Let us know how you are doing. You must be a very strong person to go through the breast cancer and now ovarian. You will find that many of us here have also faced this more than once. So, keep in touch. We'd love to hear from you!

I'm so sorry to hear about your pain from the Taxol and sorry you are dealing with this dreaded disease. I never had neuropathy with the Taxol, but I had carpal tunnel syndrome years before the cancer and there were pins and needles like mad. I have recently had problems with my hands and arms going numb while I sleep, and B-6 has helped perfectly. I just experimented with dosage.
Wishing you much luck and sending prayers and well wishes your way, and all other ways.

Sorry you have had to fight two battles with the dreaded "C". I have had 8 rounds of taxol/carboplatin and the neuropathic pain has now gotten "Noticible". I will probably be changed next week to something else. I only have it in one hand and both feet and this last dose caused sharp abdominal pains. It really worked on the cancer cells though bringing my CA125 from 2988 to 7 in 6 rounds. I have been taking the Vit. B6 (100 mg/day) and L-glutamine since the third dose and believe that it may have delayed more severe pain and numbness. Welcome to the site and keep us posted. (HUGS) Saundra

    Thanks Saundra,
Sorry to meet you in such circonstances. I hope you are through with your chemio. As to me I still have 4 rounds to go. I was in pain yesterday, it felt like zillion of mosquitos had gotten me.I took 2 Atasol 8 and a sleeping pill to be able tp sleep a little. This morning I tried Claritin Extra, and 2 hours later the pain was not as vivid as the one from the past 4 days.My left hand is a bit numb, my both feet are different to what they used to be, and my legs are wicker.I had called my doctor and he had prescribed Neurotin 200mg/day. As now I feel better I will wait.
I am sorry for you that you have to endure abdominal pains. Are they neuropathic ?

I found one internet site on chemotherapy that listed abdominal pains as a side effect of neuropathy. Will ask my oncologist next week when I see him.
