if the stool is black and tarry it means there's blood...a good reason to go see the DR!!!!! I hope all is well..sending prayers...Joanne

certain products like gas-x and pepto bismo can make the stools dark. Also, spinach and dark greens. Look at what goes in for a possible dietary cause..if not, a doc should be alerted, at least they can tell you if you need further examination.
