Hair Finally Growing Back

My hair is finally growing back after chemo. But my main concern is that it is also growing on my face. I used to have a little fuzz on my face but not like this. Has anyone exerienced this? Please tell me it will go away.

    I am so sorry this is happenning and upsetting you. What I can say is all the hair that came back was initially different(color, curly instead of straight) and after a period of time it all went back to what I had had originally. You don't say where or how much, but check w/your oncologist about this side-effect and is it ok to have it professionally depillitorized. I wouldn't get rid of it any other way ie., shaving, plucking, using over-the-counter dipillitory's yourself. I am sure this has happenned to others and she can assuage your fears, however, it would be very upsetting to me too. To first have to deal with them removing one or both of my femaleness, that is very invasive to our vanity and to then go through all the accomodations we must because of that, to then deal w/hair where it shouldn't be would be scary to me and then it would make me reallly angry.

    I also noticed than when my hair was first coming back in it seemed like I had more facial hair. But now that my hair is back to it's normal length the hair on my face seems to have gone back to normal. My hair also came in really dark, I was always a natural blonde. Now ~ 1 year after my last chemo, my hair seems to be back to about normal. But I did use dye (done by a salon) when my hair was first coming back in.

    I found for me dealing with the changes like dying my hair was the right thing for me. So you may try to get the hair remove if it bothers you. My Mom kept thinking I should just wait until my hair returned to it's natural color on it's on... but for me I think it would have driven me to distraction. So deal with it if it is bothering you.

    I actually noticed it more on my BACK, of all places. If you think about it, all of the hair on the 'unwanted' parts of your body, as you started life, over time rubbed off, and didn't return. All of a sudden, now, the whole system got a jump start...and EVERYTHING is growing again!!!

    I am 6 months out of chemo, have a full head of BLACK hair (was red before), shot thru with silver. I am doing nothing about it but keeping it short....I am happy it's back!!!!

    My back hair is 'back' to normal...come to think of it, my face DID have some fuzzy stuff...it's gone now, too.....

    I was thinking that maybe that would be the case with the hair growing back that eventually it would rub off in places it didn't really belong. One good thing is that the hair on my face is real light colored but shows up distincly furry depending on the light I'm standing in. My hair was originally brown and has now come back gray and is as soft as can be. I'm trying to figure when I'll be brave enough to go out in public without any headcovering. I was actually thinking I looked kind of cute and sassy and might actually go to work tomorrow with the really short hair. I'm planning on bringing a hat along just in case I chicken out. Losing my hair has definately given me a new insight on bald people. It is cold not having hair!

    You GO, girl! I went 'naked' often...but always took a scarf, just in case. Yes, I know the feeling....cold in the winter, hot in the summer (with my second set of chemo, my onc saw me 3 days after I got a sunburn...she said "What part of do not go out in the sun unprotected did you NOT understand?????"

    My 'starter' hair was pure white, then, seemingly overnight, it came in the color it is now...my friend, after a year, had hair back to the way it had been before treatment...

    I think that the loop the chemo throws our hormones in may have something to do with the hair growth(facial).As for your hair coming back -I am so happy for you- I remember when mine came back it was salt and pepper top and sides and black in the back? I got it colored after my first trim(the lady did it after hours) then I finally went to work without my wig.I had a hat in my car just in case too! But it was so refreshing to feel the breeze through my hair it even tickled.Everyone commented and was surprised but things calmed down as they got used to seeing me that way.What's funny is when the last time someone seen you your hair was an inche long and one and a half years later they don't recognize you.LOL

    I had problems keeping my head warm too!Brrr Makes me cold thinking about it.
