My mom's breat was completely removed through surgery but even after 7-8 weeks, the fluid is still accumulating and she has to go to hospital every 2-3 days to get the fluid removed. Is this unusual- kindly point to any resources or treatments that will help. Thanks in advance.

Are they putting any type of pressure dressing on? Doctor put an ace wrap around my chest and I had to leave it for several days - problem then resolved.

Thank you very much, I will ask our doctor about that. In your case-when did the doctor did that-was that immed after the surgery or when the fluid accumulation continued beyond certain period. More details will help me a lot and if you have any pointers such as name of hospital or doctor who I can approach for advice so that our doctor in India can consult with this doctor. Greatly appreciate your help.

My problem started about 4 weeks after surgery. Doctor had removed fluid twice before she "bound" me in an ace wrap. I am active duty military so don't have specific hospital for you to contact but I know there are cancer centers out there. Maybe someone else can help us by recommending a civilian cancer center. I know there's Anderson and John Hopkins and would think both would be willing to consult with another physician.

I guess you mean after the bulbs were taken off. I am experiencing the same thing, but i opt not to have the fluid drained just yet. i was told by my doctor that your own body will absorb the fluid it could be any where from a few weeks to 30 days. I think i might even try that ace bandage thing if this doesnt clear up soon.
