Has anyone out there experienced any discomfort associated with their Port-a-cath? Over the last couple of days, I have had skin sensitivity around the port area and weird little aches and pains too between where the port is located and my neck. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Please let me know.

I had discomfort w/ my port. I found out it had broke. even after the new one was implanted there was discomfort. I think it is having a 'foreign' object under the skin. I had mine taken out as soon as I could. I still get little pangs around the area after a year +. Is there discomfort when your cocktail is being administered? Have it checked out Hun...gives you a peace of mind....

No, other than bruising most of the time I had no other issues, except when it was first put in. I did have pain for about a week after it was installed. If you have had the port for awhile, I would call your onc or your surgeon. I have heard of some people having to have them replaced due to misfunction.

    Take Care... God Bless...

I always had some pain with my port. my collar bone hurt and also my neck I could not lay on the side that my port was on and also could not raise my arm up very hi. I told my Dr. about it and everything was fine. But I did get it out 2 weeks after my last chemo treatment.

And, MAN, did it HURT when I HIT it on something!!!!! The skin is stretched, and the tube running under the skin going toward your neck probably has sutures.
I had my port for almost 2 years....removed last Tuesday...thru both cancers....I thanked my doctor every infusion for recommending it....no blown veins!!!!
