Thank goodness!!!!!!

I have to say I was a basket case yesterday and today, more so then ever. I think it is because I know the significance of what I consider to be my first major survival milestone, 2 years after chemo with no recurrance (that will happen the end of Oct).

My oncologist was pretty funny as he got all flustered about not being able to tell me why I am having these good test results since I chose to stop chemo before he wanted me to almost 2 years ago. His ole stat driven self was something to watch. I finally told him that I thought: the chemo started it but it stopped, so then the complete lifestyle and diet change helped, there was definitely some luck, God was with me the entire time, and I have an awesome support group!!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone!!!!!!!!!

Now, I need a good night's sleep and am off to my family's annual beach trip Saturday for a week(18 of us this year).

hOW AWESOME IS THAT!!!!!!!! CONGRATS! YOU ARE TRULY AN INSPIRATION. DID I READ CORRECTLY EARLIER THAT YOU SAID YOU STILL HAVE EVIDENCE OF CANCER WHEN YOU QUIT CHEMO? THAT IS SO AWESOME THAT YOU ARE NED! MY MOM NEVER WOULD HAD KNOWN THAT SHE HAD CANCER IF SHE WOULD NOT HAD THE BRAIN TUMORS FROM THE COLON CANCER. THEY CAUSED SEVERE DIZZINESS. SHE HAD IT IN HER LUNGS , LIVER, COLON AND THEN HER BRAIN. OTHER THAN THE BRAIN SHE FELT GREAT! UNTIL SHE STARTED CHEMO.....I CANT HELP BUT WONDER IF SHE WOULD HAD MORE QUALITY OF LIFE WITHOUT IT........WHO KNOWS. CONGRATS AGAIN!

Congratulations!! This is AMAZING! But may I ask what supplements are on your list? Can you please share with us?
My dad is having a hard time with his chemo. I would love to find out more for him about supplements.

    Hi Carm,

I have a 2 documents I wrote up spring of last year as others kept asking what I was doing. I Have to warn you that it is very intimidating and that I do NOT recommend he do it alone. My Naturopathic Doctor also had a PhD in Clinical Nutrition so she specialized in chronic disease treatments. I was very fortunate to find her.

Send me an email on this site with your personal email address and I will email my stuff (it includes names of products that I don't want to advertise here too much (they ain't paying, heh heh). And if anyone else wants it, do the same. I leave for a weeks vacation Saturday and am not sure if I will have email access, so if you don't hear from me for a week, that will be the reason.

    Good question,

Today, my onc was trying to back off of his original stage IV diagonosis 2 1/2 years ago but when I reminded him that we did biopsies on the liver mets, he got all flustered. We went thru the chronilogical events together again and both agree that back then we thought I had 4 active tumors when I stopped chemo. He tried to say the lung lesion was not really a tumor since it was not biopsied but when I reminded him that it shrunk 50% the first 3 months I was chemo, that really got him scratching his head. I finally told him we will probably never know and that I didn't care about that. BUT, I suspect I just done't fit into one of their survivor categories. I will be an "other". Fine with me!!!!

    Lisa,
Would you please email me your supplements and nutrition info. My husband is stage IV, with liver mets, chemo is keeping stuff from growing, but no shrinkage after a year. We are on a program of supplements, pretty intensive, but really are shooting blind and clueless. Your help would be great
    my work email is sandra.garrison@state.nm.us,
PS your news is absolutely wonderful. when did your tumors go away, after chemo or after you stopped chemo?

    Thanks so much

    Hi Lisa -

I am so happy to hear your continued great news - it gives us all hope.

Since I am doing so well, my oncologist and I actually discussed in May whether or not I had ever actually had Stage IV disease. She went back to the pathologist and had him cut a new section from my original liver biopsy and examine the freshly cut specimen. Unfortunately (but totally expected) it came back as a mix of normal liver tissue and adenocarcinoma - thus any chance that the original biopsy had actually been of the colon turmor only was nixed - definitely a Stage IV diagnosis. Well, we didn't expect anything different. But meanwhile I continue to do well and your story gives me more hope.

    Have a great beach vacation.
