    I have been a little confuse dabout how much exercise to get. I knew about the breast cancer recurence reduction studies. My doctor had told me that exercise had the most benefit for hormone dependent cancers.

    So I'm elated to hear that it is good for us too!!

    Now myh other questions was how much is enough and how much is too much?

    My white blood cells and platelets are still not recovered from chemo. And I had three surgeries last year including liver resection.

    I am trying to start slowly, but still worry about over-doing it.

    Oh, I looked up "metabolic equivalent task-hours" that they mention is that article. In another article there is this info :

    Calculating weekly energy expenditure (in metabolic equivalent task-hours or MET hours).
    Vigorous exercise was defined as an activity requiring 6 METs or more (a 6-fold or greater increase above resting metabolic rate) e.g. running, bicycling.
    Walking was defined as a moderate form of exercise, requiring an energy expenditure of 2 to 4.5 METs, depending on pace.
    Results were categorised into quintiles of MET score (1 = lowest activity; 5 = greatest activity).

    5 MET hours per week vigorous exercise is the equivalent of 45 minutes per week.

    5 MET hours per week walking is the equivalent of 1.5 hours brisk walking per week.

    Hi Kathi,
    Thanks for the post. I read and posted something similar to this a while ago about exercise decreasing the chance of a recurrence. That article stated that folks getting a medium/moderate amount of exercise had the same benefits as someone who was very athletic. I don't know if there can be "too much" exercise, but I would think whatever you are capable of doing would provide a benefit.
