HI everyone!
I just started my new protocol of drugs today called Bafiri (avistin, CPt-11, leucovorin, 5-FU push and 5-FU pump (48
hours). To start the day, I received my port (7:45am instillation)
and at 10:30 am the chemo meds were started. I did well except when I was half way through the CPT-11, I became flushed and nauseated; then cramps the BIG D started. I received meds for
these things and I was latter feeling fine. I am at home feeling a little tired but doing surprising well so far. I will win this battle with my cancer busting team consisting of docs, nurses, and meds. I must not forget the "12th person or people" on my team...all of you on this web site. Bless you all. My thoughts and prayer are always with you! Terri

Hi Terril - colon cancer chemo isn't fun, but hang in there. And when the going gets tough, remember that we have it relatively easy compared to patients with other forms of cancer. I have friends with breast cancer who have gone thru "Hell" with their chemo treatments. We're much better off. So keep a good attitude and know that we are all routing for you to get thru this.

    Terri -

I'm a military guy and we're fond of saying "We do more before 9:30 than most people do all day." I believe in your case today you did more before 10:30 than most of us do all WEEK!

Dang, girl, you ROCK! What a great attitude - keep it up and know that your 12th "man" is right here anytime you need us!

    Cheers

    Hi Terri:

My thoughts are with you and I am beaming healing waves of good vibes to you. You sound like a real trooper - that's the spirit.

Getting ready for my chemo, I just ordered some guided imagary CDs. They are supposed to really help to cut down the symptoms when you're going through the treatment by keeping your mind occupied with postive, nurturing mesages. You can find them on Amazon, just type in Belleruth Naparstek.

Please keep us posted on how you're doing. Just remebmer we're all rooting for you, the 12th, the 13th and all the rest :)

    Cheers,
    JADOt

I do remember when I started the same regime that you are receiving, I went home and was waiting for something to happen, had my boys prepared for the things onc had said miight happen and thsnkfully I felt noraml. As it progressed, there was some fatigue, diarrohea(sp), minor haor loss. But all in all it was fairly tolerable. Hope the same for you. Your positvie attitude will go a long way also.
