Info on Thalidamide vs Tamoxofin Study

My mom has stage 4 ovarian cancer and has been through with chemo for 2 years. Her CA125 has been creeping up slowly for nearly a year and is now around 65. The doctor said the slow creep is unusual, with no symptoms and a clean CAT Scan. They want to put her in a study comparing the effectiveness of thalidamide vs tamoxofin. We would appreciate any info on the effectiveness and side effects of either of these drugs. Has anyone used these for ovarian cancer before?

Hi, So sorry to hear about your mom. I was in a study where they used topotecan vs topotecan and thalidomide. The people getting the thalidomide had way better results. However some of the women couldn't tolerate the thalidomide very well. If you want to read the article on it here is a link. http://www1.umn.edu/umnnews/Feature_Stories/Thalidomide_shows_potential_in_fight_against_ovarian_cancer.html?enewsemail

My Doctor was the one doing the study. Good luck on the decision. Prayers and Hugs
