My farther was diagnozed with colon cancer, stage IV a week ago. He just went through chemotherapy. The doctor said that if the cancer will sill be in his liver after this chemotherapy, he has about 3 to 6 months left. He lives in Eastern Europe - is there anything I can do, any suppliments I can buy from here? would juicing help? Any word of advice? He is the most wonderful person in this world. Thanks so much in advance.

Privet Elena. I am sorry to hear about your father.

I was diagnosed this past May with colon cancer, stage four, that had spread to my liver (I was 35 years old at the time of diagnosis, and there were seven liver tumors). My chemotherapy was 5FU + Avastin and Oxaliplatin. I also took a high potency multivitamin and changed my diet to an almost vegetarian whole foods diet. I never did get a juicer, but from what I understand others have had success with juicing and nutritional changes. For my part, the liver tumors went away and I've had two PET scans that showed no more cancer. Do you know exactly what chemotherapy your father has had? Where exactly is he in E. Europe? Unfortunatley with cancer treatment there are no guarantees, but there are many examples of people who have far exceeded the expectations of their doctors. You may wish to get a copy of the book "Beating Cancer With Nutrition" by Patrick Quillin, or "Nature's Cancer Fighting Foods" by Verne Varona for nutritional advice. Both are pretty good books.

Best wishes to you and your father. Paka!

Spasibo Rodney. I wish you all the best.

My dad is in Moldova. I will find out today what type of chemotherapy he had. What type of potency multivitamin did you get? I admire all of you for your courage.

    Hi Elena,

If you go to the search bar at the top of our discussion page and type in "juicing" or vitamin supplements, you can pull up prior posts that address just the questions you ask.

I hope that the chemo will quickly work on the mets in his liver. There are many stage IV survivors on this site.

    All my best,

    Kay

    Thanks Kay,

I have another question. My dad doesn't want to talk about cancer. He pretends that nothing happened that he doesn't know that he is sick. He is telling me and my family that he is doing better then ever. I want to talk to him about it when I get home but is he just in the "denial phase". Did any of you go throuth this? Seems like he is trying to protect us.

    Hi Elena,
My father too has colon cancer that spread to the liver. He always acts like everything is fine around me and my mother tells me his is really the opposite at home. I guess he is trying to keep me from worrying too much.
It is also possible your Dad feels fine and can't believe that he could really be that sick.
    Good Luck,
    Sue
