Hi, I'm Patty, 52, and am starting velcade/thalidomide treatment next month.  I'm writing to see if anyone can give me an idea of what side effects to expect, (nausea, loss of appetite, hair loss, etc.)  I've gotten different answers from the drs. I would appreceiate any input.  Thanks

Hi Patty,  I am on Velcade/Dexamethazone/Thalidomide(VDT)in my treatment known as maintenance.  I have 12 treatments of this and will start the forth cycle Thursday.  The treatments are on days 1,4,8 and 11 with 2 weeks off before I start the next cycle.  I tell you this to let you know how much Velcade I take durning the maintenance treatment.  The Velcade dosage is calculated based on body weight. The side effects I experence are nausea and lack of energy.  I only experenced hair loss durning chemo.  You should not loose your hair with just Velcade and Thalidomide.  I take Thalidomid every day at 50 mg/day.  Thalidomide makes my feet and legs hurt.  My Dr. allowes me to get off Thalidomide untill the feeling comes back about 1 week.  I have been in complete remission as of August 2005.  Trust in Christ he will get you through.  Jennifer
