Question with Treatment Change

Hi everyone, I just found out my fathers Dr took him off Oxaliplatin because he was getting rashes but I also found out by my mother that he never replaced it with anything else. Has anyone heard of this. I would think he should replace it with something else. Also can anyone tell me what other chemo besides oxaliplatin they are taking. He has stage 4 colon cancer with mets to the lungs and a un operatable tumor in his lower abdomon. Thanks everyone.

    Hi there, my father has been on a number of chemo drugs, with oxaliplatin being one. Drs. took him off of it because c.e.a. markers going back up. He has just gotten off avastin and now starting erbitux with camptosar. His drs. have always put him on another chemo drug, when one has stopped working.My dad also has un operable cancer. stage 4 colon with lung tumors now. He is fixing to start erbitux and camptosar again next week. He is also getting 10 radiation treatments the next two weeks. Curious why your dad's dr. hasn't another option to talk with you all about. Good luck with everything.

    Hi mindy, I think you should of Dr re folfiri regime: 5fu, leucovorin and irinotecan (aka camptosar) and perhaps avastin, der new vunderdrug apparently. This is the treatment I rec'd and I still continue with Avastin. Does anybody know why some people get irinotecan and some get oxiplatalin and why some people get avastin and some get erbitux?
