Hoping someone can help me with this question. May 03 I had a right modified mastectomy followed with chemo and radiation. On 16 April 05 I had a left simple mastectomy and right latisumus flap; expanders on both sides. Started with 4 J-P drains -- still have 2 in on the right side and one is driving me crazy.

What's the longest time a drain can stay in? Output for both are still more than 30 cc in 24 hours. I see the surgeon again tomorrow -- any questions I should be asking him?

Any suggestions on how to manage the pain from the drain would be appreciated. Have used Motrin, Percocet, Ambien and he ordered valium for me a few days ago. Pain all seems related to one specific drain and I can't be any more sedentary than I already am.

Thanks
