CT - bad news

Hello dear friends,
Well, I got the results of my CT scan, and the news ain't good. Brief history: dx with rectal cancer Dec 03. Stage III (one lymph node affectedd). Had chemoradiation followed by surgery followed by chemo. I've had great follow-up, all clear, and feeling great. This was my 2-year post-surgery CT. Learnt today I have a tumour in my lung (left lower lobe). I'm about to step back onto the roller-coaster of further tests (biopsy, PET) but it looks like it's resectable. Which is good news.

No doubt I'll be checking back with you Champion Dragonslayers for advice and information on this phase of my journey. In the meantime, please send your prayers and best wishes my way (Hong Kong! Push hard!). I have received so much information and support from this group, and it brings me comfort to know you are there.

Hi Tara,
I know for a fact that you can get through this. Don't let the fact that this pushes you into "stage 4" status frighten you...Personally, I've been there, done that, and so have MANY others with great success. I am a firm believer that with detection, anything is possible. You've already made the first step towards getting through this, and that is realizing something is there, and requires attention. We are all here for you for support!

Stay strong, and keep us updated with your PROGRESS! (failure is NOT an option!)

All my best,
Stacy

Tara,

Your story sounds so similar to mine. I was diagnosed Dec. '02 and had a recurrance 2 months shy of my 2 year anniiversary. You caught it early due to good follow-up care and regular scanning. You will be ok and we'll all be here for you.

I caught my recurrance early and had only 4 months of chemo till I got an all clear. Now I'm on a maintenance program of oral chemo and celebrex.

Hang in there. You'll be in our prayers. This disease can be beaten.

Tara,
I'm glad you were able to catch it while it's still resectable. You will be in my prayers.

Tara dear,

I will definitely rachet up my prayers for you but get the biopsy and make sure it is a tumor and then take care of it. I agree with the others that persistence and early detection are key. Keep us posted and know hugs are on the way (lightning express).

Dear Tara,

I'm sorry to hear your news. I'm in that same Stage III post chemo waiting period and while we who hang out on this board all know this can happen, it's definitely a bummer.

On the other hand, we who hang out on this board also know that it's beatable, and that these ups and downs are all part of living in a human body. To be alive is to be vulnerable. It's all part of the same package.

Tara, it's amazing that the miracles of surveillance let us see the beginnings of things in time to resect, in time to intervene, in time to BEAT THIS!! You will and we'll be right with you all the way.
