Hello everyone!!!! I Thank You all again for being there for me even though I an new to you site!!!

I saw the Surgeon last Thursday. He felt that it wasn't anything serious. He looked at the films and ultra sound. He asked me if he could use the films for a conference that they were having that afternoon with other radiologists and surgeons. To add me to a case study. I said fine and he said to call him the following day. I did that and when the surgeon called me back he said he made a bad call in regards to not doing a biopsy. He said that they all agreed that the mammograms looked fine but they did not like the ultra sound and that a biopsy was definitly inorder. I was glad that he was honest with me!!!!

So I have mine scheduled for April 12th. He said they were going to do it by ultra sound. Can you guys tell me what that is all about? I am the kind of person that needs to know all before to prepare myself mentally I HATE surprise when it come to these things. Any help or info you guys can give me I would GREATLY APPRECIATE!!!!

Thank You again for being there for me!!!!

Best Wishes and Prayers to all!!!

Sue

    Hi Sue,
Sorry you have to go through the biopsy, but thankfully your doctor took another look! My doctor also thought mine was nothing to worry about based on ultrasound, mammogram, and feel. But, the good surgeon that he was decided to just remove it anyway and not even waste time biopsying it, just get it out (that was his words) and I thank god every day that he did.
To answer your question, I have had three different biopsy's at different times on the "good" breast. All three were ultrasound guided because of the location of them. They were all small but deep within the chest wall. I had a really great radiologist and ultrasound tech each time and it was relatively painless. The worst part of getting the needle to numb the area. THankfully these three came back as either fiberous tissue or cysts each time. Once you have bc, they don't take any chance with anything that is why they wanted to rule out these other areas.
I am sure you will get more information from some other ladies here, this site is a great source of information.
Good luck and let us know how you make out.

    Hi, Sue,
I had a core needle biopsy via sonogram. It was painless. They injected a local and the doctor used an instrument that reminded me of a plastic toy gun. He was guided by the nurse who placed the sonnogram probe where my tumor was.He took 6 specimens: four from the side, one from the north of the tumor and one from south of the tumor. The samples are taken almost instantaneously, very fast. There is no noticeable scarring. And quite honestly, I didn't really have much pain at all.
So don't worry. It's pretty much a cake walk. It's the fear that always seems to be paralizing, not the procedure.

Good Luck and I hope your results are clean!
