I apologize for my brief description. I had cancer on my tonsil which I found out about in february 2004, but before I knew it was cancer I was going through a lot of pain in my throat and jaw. I had noticed that my jaw felt tight when I would try to open my mouth. In March 2004 the opening of my mouth was becoming limited. I had about a 15 cm opening. After the radiation which lasted for 7 weeks my mouth almost closed shut. I did start exercising it with popsicle sticks and stretches through theropy as soon as I felt better and have purshased a therabite that I use every day and the best I can do up to this point is open to 2cm with the therabite but less on my own. My question is if anyone has gone through this and if they recovered. So yes you may say I now have permanent lock jaw.It has been a little more than a year.laurena said:coconuts you give very little info. you mean you have permanent lock jaw?? I had it once for a few hours when they (drs) had given me too much anti-nausea iv medication! (I had the same cancer). Hope this helps.
