Hair Thickness?

I finished chemo Jan of 2004 and my hair has grown back. It's even longer than before chemo!
I lost all of my hair and was completely bald. But one thing I've noticed is that my hair has grown in much thinner than it was previously. My biggest complaint is that its so thin I can see my scalp. Has anyone else noticed this? Will it return to its normal thickness or is this my new hair texture?

    Hi Ronee,

    I didn't have that happen but surely we all react differently...

    Are you taking any other meds now? Or perhaps it is a hormonal thing? The type of chemo you took, perhaps? These are the only things I can think of...
    Do ask your doc about it... it may be a symptom or even better yet, something easily treatable.

    Hi! My dad has been on chemo a few times his hair took about 2 months to come back but each time has been different first time it came back really curly! the after a couple hair cuts went back to normal then the second time his hair color turned black! his normal color is white (he's 67 )so now i think it takes a few hair cuts and your hair will probably come back normal even though your finished with chemo (GREAT!) it takes about 6 weeks for that to get out of your system! hope this helps!     I've known folks with grey hair who had black hair for a time after chemo as well... strange stuff, eh? Just to keep us guessing, perhaps?

    My hair was quite thick before chemo this time. I had 4 rounds of AC and this was followed by 4 rounds of Taxotere [recur from original dx of 4/99] I had CMF in 1999 and it came back good after that...but then I didn't get "battery acid" shoved in my viewns that time either. ;-)
    I have posted to another BC group [huge!] and quite a few gals have posted that they went to a dermatologist and were put on vitamins. [4-5 different ones were posted/can't remember names right now]
    I've got an appt Wednesday morning. I thought it can't hurt and my HMO is picking up the tab for it..so why not? Ain't costing me anything anyway. [getting them back for being nasty other times]
    They posted that about 4 months after starting this course of vitamins that their hair thickened and the texture was also different then before.
    I'm consulting with him just to see what he has to say about this.
    I can see my scalp as well..now I know how the men feel when they've got to do a "comb over" LOL!! Okay, not that bad, but it just looks "funny" as opposed to what I had before.
    But things could be worse, I know that for a fact now, having done this twice now. I'll try and post what he tells me, so perhaps it'll help someone else going through this mess.
    I think it's only fair we get something back after what we've done to get to where we are now..Is good hair too much to ask??
    Hey! did anyone not get back what they had for eye brows? eyelashes? Just curious. Eyelashes are okay here, but the brows, how sad! ;-( I tell people when the subject comes up "Good thing I got good grades in art class...I didn't know someday it would come in handy, and I'd be having to draw my eyebrows on" LOL!
