Hi,

While shopping for groceries last night, I did buy the Northern bathroom tissue as they are donating to the Komen Foundation as has been reported. You cut off and send in the proofs of purchase to the addy on the package and they donate .50 to Komen. Also, Yoplait Yogurt is doing the same thing. The yogurts with the pink top and the ribbon on the top, which all of the Yoplait yogurts where I shopped had, are doing the same thing. Save the foil top, send it in to the addy cited and they are donating to Komen as well.

Unfortunately, I did not see the controversial M&Ms :o) but, I know that I will buy them when I do.

Do any of you know of other products donating this month? I want to support and buy from those companies where I have an option.

Target stores have a lot of pink ribbon items for sale right now too.

    Jan,

I don't know where you live but I found the M&M in Rayleys 3:49 / 8 oz bag. Also found them online for $2.99.

Avon is donating, I just bought some products from them.

    Hi Jan,
I got my recent subscription to Womens Golf magazine and I was amazed at the stuff that you can purchase with money going to breast cancer. In addition to the Northern Toilet paper and the M$M's here is a few other things that are available: Ford has made a breast cancer awareness scarf (which Demi Moore is wearing in the adverstment), I have purchased golf balls from Walmart that have the breast cancer ribbon on them, I think the donations go to the Koman Foundation. New Balance has sneakers (lace up for the cure)spend 25 or more and New Balance will donate 5 dollars to Komen. Gund has a bear also there is a Bennie Baby pink bear. This is just a sampling of whats out there. Please note that I am not promoting any products, I just was suprised to see how many products are donating.
I don't know if any of you are golfers or not, but the recent issue of Golf for Women Sept/Oct has a lot of breast cancer info it (you may like it even if you don't golf).
On a side note: I have not seen the M$M's on sale yet either, but I must confess that it is my favorite kind of chocolate to eat if I am going to eat candy..lol If you are concered about the sugar in M&M's then you should also be concered about the sugar in something like Yogart. I have a diabetic daughter and until I really started looking at labels, I was in shock at the amount of sugar. Until I started reading this dicussion board, I had know idea that we should not eat sugar, or we should watch our sugar intake...why don't the doctors tell you this stuff?????

It is not something that is proven which is why doctors do not pass on this info - just hearsay that gets picked up and passed along.

I seen Target had a pink and a white shirt for $9.99 and all of the proceeds go to the foundation. Plus I seen Krogers and some other stores are also doing the $1.00 donation thing, like United way and stuff like that. And I bought a pink ribbon magnet for my car. I can't think what elsethat isn't already posted.

    Hi,
I've seen some pink ribbon items here in Puerto Rico, too. I didn't know about the Northern bathroom tissue and the M&M's but will take note and try to buy them. I'm really looking for a beautiful and big pink ribbon pin to wear at work.
Does anyone know where can I buy it?

There are several places on the internet that offer them in varying sizes and styles. My favorite ones are the pink rhinestone ones. I will get you some links tomorrow, I have to hit the hay tonite.

Belks department store, which is a southeast thing, I think, is selling the ribbons too for a dollar and they give you three Komen coupons for a percentage off of purchases. But, it may have ended cause I think that the coupons were good to Oct. 11. They should have made them good for the entire mo of Oct.

I also had not heard much about this until coming to this site. The nutritionist mentioned some things about the sugar intake. I love my chocolate and always had somewhat of a sweet tooth.

I have not heard the same from the (my) doctors. so I wrote an email to the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota. call the "Ask the Experts or specialists."

I will let you know if I get a response regarding sugar intake and breast cancer.

    Hey Ladies:

I live in the Northeast and we seem to have a whole horde of things going on this month.

The Philadelphia Eagles football team has a huge,
pink ribbon on their lighted display on the field.
The team is also selling pink baseball caps in two shades of pink. Not sure if online purchases are available but one could contact them through their website for info on purchases.

The city of Philadelphia has "gone pink" for the month with everything from skyscrapers to the smaller buildings, lit at night in pink. Quite a vision!!! There have also been a ton of fundraising walks, runs, bike rides, hikes, etc. in NJ and PA with more scheduled through the end of the month. One can buy tee's, pink ribbons, M&M's, yogurt, toilet tissue, (most all the items already mentioned here) all of which can be found in a variety of stores, from Target to CVS. Something for everyone really. Even the tv stations are sponsoring many events this month.

Also, "Graceland" is lit pink for the month of October. To see it you can go to www.elvis.com and click on the link provided. Very pretty, plus you get to hear a bit of the King while at the site! LOL I don't think I've seen a previous October filled with so much awareness and focus on breast cancer and it's great! Hopefully more women will hear the message of the
importance of mammos and self exams because this is our absolute FIRST line of defense in our vigilence for finding bc early!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The best any woman can do for herself. The fundraising (and how the funds are used, etc.) is just one aspect. However, the awareness the publicity serves to bring to women is priceless!

    Love, light and laughter,
    Ink
