i just finished chemo with cytoxan, adriamycian and taxol together. so first, i wish you all the best, and speaking from experience , you can get through it. depending on what side effect you are having. i can suggest, a new med, called emend, i also took anzemet and then zofran. the first is taken day 1,2, 3 and the others are supplemented if you need more help with nausea. please let me know if i can be of any other help.

    Dear Rayswife,
Between Oct. 2001 and March 2002, I had 4 a/c treatments followed by 4 taxol treatments. I didn't have trouble with nausea, but I started out with compazine, and my oncologist told me that if that didn't work to call him and they would order "resue drugs" for me. I guess what I'm saying is that if you are having some side effects, contact your oncologist and let he or she know what is going on. Compazine blurred my vision and when I complained he changed my anti nausea medicine. Your Dr. is there to help you and they have a wide variety of drugs to chose from. Good luck. It will be over quicker than you think.

I had the same chemothearpy and I took meds for the nausea compazine. I agree if what they are giving you isn't helping ask for something different. Also drink lots of water or some type of fluid that always seemed to help me I kept getting dehydrated and would have to go in for IV. Just rest when your body tells you chemo isn't a picnic but it sure is worth it in the end. God Bless

The good news is that you will find you'll have this really stinky week now followed by a pretty okay week and then a fairly normal week before your next treatment. Flush, flush, flush with water. The really awful stinky days are very few.

Hey there..hang in. Keep drinking the water and eating the popsicles. My side effects weren't nausea but severe bloating and generally feeling like a blimp. I also doubled my Fibercon for the constipation and that helps get it out of you faster. Keep the faith...it passes.

water, water, water and then more water! I kept a sports bottle with me at all times (even during chemo) and I really believe it kept the nausea away~I was thankfully NEVER sick from the chemo...and I had the same as you, plus Taxotere. Popsicles are great too...you may get constipated (that happened to me once, and was no picnic!) I used Milk Of Magnesia, upped my intake of fruits, and was "relieved"...hang in there sweetie~Survivor is a GREAT word!

Had same chemo trtmt you did, and the miracle for me was the EMEND. Zofran did nothing for the nausea.

Emend is the only thing that helped me, oh and ginger, crackers, bananas, pepermint tea.

    Dear Rayswife
Alot depends on which chemo combo you were given and which side effects you were inquiring about. Not all chemo makes you bald - so Im not sure if that is what you meant---if that is the case there isnot much you can do about it. The ''upset tummy'' can be controlled with several different precriptions you just have to find the right one that works for you. And like everyone else says WATER WATER WATER is your best friend. The more you drink the faster you flush your system and the better you will feel.
    best of luck

I took the same drugs you did and the nausea was bad the first 4 days and continued until day 12 then I got chemo again on the 14th day. They gave me steroids in the IV for the nausea as well as Zofran. Compazine did nothing for me either. Believe it or not the treatment does go by and pretty soon I hope you will be looking back on it. I ended mine 3 months ago. Hang in there!
