Side Effects after Taxotere

My Mom finished chemo three weeks ago (4 rounds of A/C, 4 rounds of Taxotere) and she is still experiencing major side effects (eye tearing, bad taste, fatigue, pain in her feet, brittle nails). Her doctor has been less than helpful in offering suggestions to help with the symptoms. All she says is that it may take up to a year for them to go away. Does anybody have any tips I can give to my Mom to help her get through this? Any help would be appreciated.
