I have a question. Has anyone taken Tamoxifen beyond the 5 year reccomended time? Right now I am affraid to stop taking it when my 5 years come up. In October of this year it will be only 4 years. My Breast Cancer was in Situ no nodes involved. My Doctor also told me if The breast Cancer or The Colon Cancer came back there was no Cure for me. I am really thinking about continuing the Tamoxifen the rest of my life, if possible. I have not had any side effects that I know of yet. I was just wondering if any one feels this way about their Medication.

I have only been on Tamoxifen for only one year. I sometimes have the same feelings that I want to be on it for life too. If it is working, then I wonder why quit? Other times I would like to be free of all reminders of cancer and taking that pill every day keeps it fresh in my mind. I did not take it for one week, forgot to bring it on vacation, my markers went up that week. Not much but up. SO take it or not I guess I will have to cross that bridge when I get there. God bless. Sandy.

I have been on Tamoxifen since December 2001, two months ago I stopped taking it. I had to stop taking it because of the side effects it was having on me. I don't know if other women experience these side effects or not but for me I sometimes didn't even feel like going to work or getting out of bed. My bones hurt so bad and other problems as well, as soon as I stopped taking the tamoxifen it was like I was a different person. I feel great now no more bone pain or any of the other side effects that I was having. I know I'm taking a chance of reoccurance but I could not go through another day feeling the way I was feeling. There is a thing called quality of life.
