Hi,

My name is Roger and I had a prostatectomy a year ago this past March 29.

I am fully recovered and have no problem with potentcy or continence. It did take a couple of months before I felt comfortable going without a light pad however.

I would suggest you practice the cagle exercise religously. Recovery WILL come, it is just going to take time.

Please feel free to e-mail me at my home e-mail which is listed in my profile.

Best of luck,

Roger

Roger; Thanks for your encouraging words, that there is light at the end of the tunnel. I just had my prostatectomy 3 weeks ago and the catheter removed 8 days ago. It gets a little discourging at times with the incontinence, not to mention the impotence) so it's great to hear success stories like yours. BTW, how often did you do the cagle exercises? And when did you start seeing signs of erections? Thanks, Bob
PS How do I find your (or any) profile? I'm brand new to this forum and not good at finding my way around.

Bob,

Sorry, but I'm having some difficulty myself is becoming familiar with the new format. I just this a.m. located your response.

Don't get discouraged, with time you will get through this "obstacle of life". I almost constantly was practicing the cagle exercise. You have to concentrate initially to be sure you are doing it, but with time it will become totally natural. I began showing signs of excitement within two to three weeks after removal of the catheter (10 days following surgery). Realize that everyone is different, so there is no set time frame that this will happen.

If yu want to view a member's profile, you will have to first complete one for yourself. Once you have done that, you can click on the name of the member posting a message or reply and the system will take you to that particular person's page.

Have faith my friend and keep in touch.

Roger;

Thanks for your reply and encouragement; it's good to hear from other sources that things will continue to improve but at its own pace. Today marks two weeks since the catheter was removed and I have my 2 week check-up this afternoon. I'm hoping that my doctor pushes me to do more cagles since he told me to take it a little easy with them during these first 2 weeks. (I have been doing them each time I stand or move and just periodically in between). At this point I am remaining relatively dry at night while lying down and during the day when sitting and inactive. It's a little wetter proposition when I stand or do a lot of walking and in social situations I find it hard to concentrate on control, generally losing it. But when I look at where I was two weeks ago, things are definitely improving.... and that's encouraging.

I've tried several times to enter my profile but am having problems with user-name. I'll have to contact them to see what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks again Roger, for your help; your words really do matter. And for anyone else in this general stage of recovery; Let's keep the faith!!

Hi,
I had surgery on February 12, of this year. I had trouble with both incontinence and impotency. Both were bad and both are getting better. Please feel free to contact me and discuss any question you might have. I have a PSA done in June it was .01 and I'm do for another one in October.
