I too was a smoker who had stopped 4 years ago and I was feeling fine, taking long vigorous walks, working, playing, etc. when I suddenly noticed a lump on my neck which turned out to be a swollen lymph node which was from the lung cancer I had, but did not have ANY symptoms from. Soooo, please, please, keep trying to quit smoking. It took me about 2 years of trying before I actually did quit for good, but I'm so glad I did since now I would have had to anyway because of the cancer and that would have been TWICE as traumatic. Hope your cough is just a smokers cough that will go away when you stop smoking. Good luck!
