Wow! Sooo many new names on the site now!
I'd like to wish all of you newbies the very best with your treatments and test results!
Hang in because it does get a bit easier as you begin to share and gain more knowledge.
The initial diagnosis is often a whirlwind of emotion, fear and sometimes outright panic. Trust me, it WILL pass into more calmness as you make treatment desicions and learn more about that treatment. Always remember that it is YOUR body, YOUR condition and YOUR choice as to how you want to proceed with treatments. If you have doctor's whom you trust and with whom you can really talk, then you're on the best track possible. Remember to always rely upon "reputable" resources for information.
There are a lot of whack websites and misguided sources available. Don't waste your time with them. A good starting place is: www.nci.nih.gov Their links and resources are trustworthy and reliable and can be helpful in determining what questions
you may want to ask your doctor or points you may want to bring up, etc.. You CAN do this and do it well, so start trusting yourself right now and make a mental "game plan" for those things you feel are most important to get to first and begin to do it.
It helps sometimes to make a written list of the information you want/need right now and go from there. The more informed you are as you make your treatment decisions, the more relaxed and confident you will feel in the choices you make. I believe that two second opinions are good...three is even better!
To my old and dear friends, I'll be signing off for a while. I will pop back in when I'm missing all of you too much! LOL Spring has sprung and since school will be out in just a few short months, I won't be home very much. Too, I've begun a redecorating spree and have purchased wallpaper and paints galore, in addition to new kitchen appliances, etc.. I'm determined to get the paper and painting projects completed before the weather gets really warm at which time I will turn my attention to the outdoors and the shore. I couldn't enjoy the outdoors last summer, due to chemo, so this summer, I plan to make up for that restriction!
My son is looking forward to a fun summer and I don't want to miss a minute of that sharing.
Take excellent care of yourselves and know that you'll be in my thoughts.
Love, light and laughter,
