This is my first post. I need to ask all who read this to please include my sister, Mary, in your prayers tonight. She is undergoing her first surgery tomorrow, left breast mastectomy, after going thru 4 chemo treatments for IBC. She has been so brave through-out, but now Mary needs all the positive thoughts available to her. Thank you all for being here. I wish you all well with your own ongoing battles.
Love from Mary's sister,
Karen

Karen - How is your sister, Mary, after her surgery. I am a breast cancer survivor. If she needs anyone to talk to, please give her my name and e-mail address (EJaneR38@aol.com) or talk to me on this site.

I was diagnosed in March of 1999 with stage III-A infiltrating ductal cell carcinoma. I had a left modified radical mastectomy with lymph node dissection - five of the ten nodes were positive, four cycles of Cytoxan, Adriamycin and 5-FU and four cycles of of Taxotere. This was followed by six weeks of radiation therapy and a radiation boost. In February of this year I had a simple mastectomy on the right because I wanted no breast tissue. I wanted to eliminate all possibilities of recurrence. At the same time I underwent a bilateral TRAM flap reconstruction.

In August of this year I went back for a recheck and I am still cancer-free. I am going back to the plastic surgeon Friday to discuss the rest of the reconstruction, nipple areolar reconstruction.
I have been where your sister is at and know how she feels. Best of luck to her and to the rest of the family. How fortunate she is to have such a concerned sister. All of you are in my prayers and thoughts.

Jane

Karen, I just wanted to say hello and ask how Mary is doing, hopefully she is recovering from her surgery and gaining strength. She is so lucky to have you on her side. My sister supported me so faithfully through my whole process for which I am grateful, I continue to remember you both in my prayers. God Bless. Murphy

I am new to this web site. Today. I am hoping all is well with your sister. I will keep her in my prayers. Believe me the power of prayer is awesome. I would not have gotten through my surgery and chemo without all of the support and prayers of my friends and family.

Best Wishes to your family in your fight against this nasty disease.
