    Oh My
    Hi Kaye,
I am glad to hear that the tx are working for you. So sorry that you need to have the last 2. But, now you really can see the end to all of this. It may be a bit in the future but it is nearing. I hope your husband is doing well, it has to be so difficult for you right now. You are an amazing woman !!!
All the best to you and your husband..

    Good luck and a question
Hope that those 2 treatments will do the full job!

Kaye, I got my hair cut off almost to the skin last Sat. and got a new wig which is ok but prefer to wear the turban as it is soft. The problem is that my head feels flaky and uncomfortably spikey - could not move the turban around without feeling the stings all over!
Any tips to soften this up? Wonder if have to shave to the skin?

    Thanks

    Good and Bad
    Hi Kaye,
Lets go with more "good". Knowing it's working will maybe make it easier to go with the last 2 treatments. My doctor said I would have 8, but also said if everything went well she could possibly stop at 6. I'll keep 8 in my brain and then if I only require 6 it will be a pleasant surprise. I hope your hubby is doing ok and please know you are always in my thoughts and prayers.

I wouldn't shave it to the skin, the last thing you need is to nick yourself and get an infection. Just lots of conditioners and you will get used to it with time. It's just such a strange sensation for awhile. I did buy a sleeping scarf that was very soft and that helped me with the prickliness.

Experiment with different materials. I made scarves myself because I refused to pay 19.00 or more for something I could make MUCH cheaper and also more to my taste. Sewing scarves is very easy and takes almost no time. There are all kinds of materials that are very soft.

Take it easy, you'll adjust with time.

    I clippered mine
When it started to come out. What was left actually hurt for a few weeks. Now it is growing back but when I put my head on the pillow it hurts (prickly) so I have a little sleeping cap it helps.

    Beauty Supply Store
    Hi liz,
Yesterday I went to the Beauty Supply Store here and found a whole section for chemo patients that lose their hair. I found soft light weight fleece caps for around the house and even lighter softer cotton caps for sleeping. I also found a really nice shoulder length wig with layered lengths that matched my own hair color to a T. It also is light weight and very comfortable on my head. The caps were only $4.00 and come in all colors. I won't be able to use scarves because I can't raise my left arm up high enough to work with them, so I'll have to go with the slip on type of headwear.Darn rotator cuff limits my ability to do alot. My hair is starting to feel brittle and dry so I guess that is a sign that the healthy hair cells are dieing??...UGH! No big clumps falling out yet, but quite a few hairs float through the air when I comb or brush it...double UGH!..ha! I thought I was ready for the fall-out, but...not so much now. The hits just seem to keep coming...hard to stay up-beat all of the time..ya know? Oh well..it's only hair! We WILL survive this!

    Yeah it's time
I'd say it's time to shave it Sue. Mine never came out in clumps, just hairs everywhere. I know it's hard, but you can get through it. I have shoulder issues too, bursitis for 25 years now off and on and you're right it's hard to tie when that happens.

    Hang in there sweetie!

    Searching for the right "head-do"
    Hi, Sue,

Yeah, you will feel more impatient dealing with falling hairs as time goes along. I felt better gotten rid of it. Now am dealing with what "head-do" instead of hairdo can make me look and feel good!! I am going to shop for cool turbans/scarves but realize that my right arm and hand is starting to act up - it comes and goes. I am doing what I can for now. Sorry to hear about your roto-cuff - that sucks!

Yes we will SURVIVE and THRIVE!!!

    Love,
    Liz

    Ladies, hair and fun!
I went to a session of "Look Good...Feel Better" sponsored by the American Cancer Society last week. This is a free, two hour session for woman that includes make up tips, with a bag of makeup selected for your skin tone and valued at over $200.00; scarves and how to tie them, what colors work best for you and wig styles and colors.....don't let me forget, a free wig to go home with. The best part was that there were only 3 of us with 2 instructors. The other two women each brought a friend along. We laughed and had a really fun time. I would recommend it to everyone! Kellie
