My father was recently diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma that developed as a tumor under the skin. The tumor has been removed from his jaw as well as the corotid gland and part of a nerve. His surgeon is saying this is very rare and he can only find 12 cases like this in the world. I find that hard to believe. If anyone has any information please contact me.

Hi Lynette, I am new on this forum and came to it for my dad who has bile duct cancer but I was reading all the posts and read yours. I have had squamous cell cancer on my leg. This has been years ago and it was a simple process to get rid of mine by a dermatologist. He removed it, then they did lab results and removed more, then I had a skin graft to cover the area. It has never come back. Perhaps your father's is different as mine was more a skin cancer type.
Good luck to you and your dad. I wish I could find someone who knows more about this bile duct cancer. I do not know what to expect as it is non operatable and chemo nor radiation help it. I am so sad that there is nothing that can be done. Hard for me to live with that. Thanks for listening, MK

    squamos cell carcinoma
I had the cancer under my jaw just below my right ear also. They removed the tumor and I have some nerve damage as well but not too bad. I had 37 treatments of radiation which ended about ten weeks ago. Things are going pretty well for me at this time but I am about to get the feeding tube removed and hope that is not a mistake or just too soon. If you have some questions I will be more than happy to answer them the best can. Good Luck.
