I had my first infusion of this (evil) chemo 2 weeks ago and I can honestly say it is the worse chemo I have had so far. On the plus side I only have to have 2 more :)

I appear to have had ALL the side effects which have lasted 2 weeks and counting. I have actually been vomitting along with feeling nauseous. However that did stop after a week. I alsohad ringing in my ears (that has slowly faded too) 2 days ago I noticed random bruises appearing on my arms and legs? I guess that is connected to the platelets.

To put it all in perspective I don't mind about all of that too much if it works and my numbers go down. They were 900 so heres hoping I get a good hit when I have my CA125 done on Friday.

Has anyone else experienced side effects like this on Cisplatin? Can anyone tell me if it is effective in bring down the numbers?

My mother had the side effects that you are describing. I'm not positive on the drug but the one you mention sounds familiar. I remember she thought the chemo was going to kill her. However, I am happy to say it was successful and she has been cancer free for the last 5 years. She was initially diagnosed with PPC in 2000 at the age of 62. She had successful chemo and was cancer free for 5 years before getting cancer again. It was the 2nd chemo that was so difficult but she was a fighter. She will be celebrating her 75th birthday later this month, still cancer free. Hang in there and hopefully you will have a similar success. I do recall that the doctor/nurses were able to reduce some of the side effects with additional medications. I had to urge her to call the doctor and ask if they had anything that would help. I hope that you are being proactive and asking for help. Good luck to you.

I've never had Cisplatin. I presume it's related to carboplatin but I have no idea. I know people who have had a reaction to carboplatin and they've been given Cisplatin as a replacement. I hate that you've not been well. Good thoughts are sent your way. :)
