Hi all,

I decided that I should formally introduce myself after seeing all of the posts that my "Check Posting Date" post started. It's nice to see that the people on this board have such introspective and thought provoking discussions. Not to mention that everyone seems quite respectful of each others point of view - very nice.

Anyway, as for me, I'm the primary caregiver to my partner, Rick, who has Stage IV colon cancer (he's only 44 yrs old.). We've been in this fight since early December '09. He's had three major surgeries since that horrible day; colon, liver and HIPEC. It's been one heck of a roller coaster ride with emotions all over the place. I'm coping a little better now, but I still have my moments... Anyway, I hope to be able to contribute to this board and look forward to knowing you all.

Take care everyone,

Cynthia

    Hi Cynthis!
I have spoke to you before, but thank you for the 'formal' introduction. It IS nice to see such interactions. I like the diversity and connections. You are right in that there is respect. I am very comfortable here and wouldn't have it any other way.

    Hugs to you!

    Hi Cynthia !
You're the reason the "Cat" has been chasing the "Mouse" lol ;).

    Nice to meet you.

    welcome
I'm glad you have found this place - it can be everything from educational to your best friend late at night when you just can't find sleep.

You are right about the roller coaster ride - one none of ever wanted to be on or see anyone else on, especially our patients.

Just hold on - and always remember you aren't riding alone!

    Hi Cynthia and welcome.....
I never formally introduced myself and think this is a wonderful idea. So glad you did.

Don't know what I would have done if I hadn't found you all here. I need desperatly to say it out loud when I'm down, but what has helped me more than anything is to feel like I'm helping someone else. That maybe my few (sometimes illiterate) words of encouragement may bring someone up a notch, help them make it through another hour of this miserable thing we are dealing with.

My name is Deborah, my husband is Don. He was dx with colorectal cancer 12/10, two weeks after my daughter-in-law (the daughter I always wanted), Julia, was dx with breast cancer. She lives in NC and we live in FL. We all belive that this has probably been the hardest part of all of this. We could neither one travel to support the other, so it has been by telephone, facebook and whatever means we could muster. But we have so much love and determination that we have come a long way. We are approaching the one year mark and huge strides have been made with us to adapt to the new normal.

Love to all and hope we can meet here often and talk about it all.
