Hi! I am scheduled to have surgery for Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans tomorrow(4/11/11). It will be a little less than a month after me telling my general doctor about having a bump on my rib cage right side. I was very blessed with a doctor with the ambition to find out what the bump was. she removed it on march 14 and had me diagnosed the following monday! I was reading on several different posts about people waiting months or years to find out what they had. I do have a different bump that is somewhat concerning, it is on my leg and has been there for about 10 years. the dermatologist didn't seem too concerned with it because he said that this type of thing is usually clustered. I was thinking about having him test it anyway but i don't know if i should or not. Anyway, I am quite freaked out about having surgery since i have never had surgery before, the first time i had stitches was when the doctor removed a little bump part of the lesion. i am having the kind of surgery where they cut you open remove what they can see, send you home with a open wound while they test it.I am worried about not being able to move since it is in my midsection. I have a few roommates and friends who are willing to help me a little bit, which should be nice. The surgeon has only worked on one other case of this. He seemed fairly confident with what he was doing and is pretty excited that we caught it seemingly early(i only had the bump for less than a year)! Hopefully all turns out well!
