Which may be hard for some of you to believe when I tell you how he stuck his foot in his mouth yesterday. I am newly diagnosed with Stage 1a, tumor grade 3. Very aggressive and…

Going back to work
Hi, I survived my port surgery, and first treatment!! Weird how that is a celebration, but to me it is. Just have 5 more to go. I am happy to write that my nervousness was the worst part of the chemo treatment. I had myself so worked up over it, that I was sick to my stomach. Number one, it was painless. Yes, it was long.…

excessive eye tearing on taxotere
I'm about to lose my ever loving mind with the eye tearing. Has anyone else had this side effect on taxotere? My eyes are like a fountain all day long. I wake up with them crusted shut from tearing all night long. Is this going to go away now that I am done with chemo? Is there anything I can do about it in the meantime?

garden gal here-update on what has happened last 2 months
On my last post I told you about a fistula I developed. Was told they could not operate and tried to put a bag (not sure what you call it)on it because it was draining quite a bit I might add, they had no luck it kept leaking. Then a cathada was put in for TPN feedings that only lasted a day, my small bowel protruded right…

I finished chemo
I am so happy! I can't believe it is finally over. These last 5 months have been the hardest of my life. I didn't think I could do that last taxotere but I did, with a reduced dose. I have a CT on April 9 and then my followup on April 16. Another surgery at the end of april to repair a hernia and do a second look. How long…

Report on Benefit for Ovarian Cancer Awareness Event
That I was lucky enough to be able to attend today in Syracuse, N.Y. When I was invited to attend, I had no idea that it was going to be such a huge event. There were 250 guests, a fashion show, local TV personalities and politicans and some very interesting speakers. Jon Zeidman, Director of Development of the Ovarian…

CA-125
my dr mentioned we need to find my "normal". I thought normal was 0-35. before surgery is was 45 then 46 and stayed there. after surgery it jumped to 254. before first chemo it was 236. Not much of a drop but still high. So when do they determine my normal?? when do they decide if chemo is working??

New to cancer and treatment-Help Me?
I had my first chemo treatment on March 23rd. I had my surgery on February 29th, of course a huge surgery as you know, so took some time for the pain to subside of course, but it did for the most part. Since the surgery I have a new pain in my right upper quadrant, there was a ct done and it shows my liver is enlarged and…

Freezing to death
at age 56 I had been used to sweating for no good reason and despising the hot humid summers. Since my hysterectomy and diagnosis of cancer, I have been freezing. I expected the opposite, for the sweats to be worse, but no, no more sweats. In fact here in my city is is sunny and 73, which is perfect for most people, I have…

I believe in miracles
I have a dear friend that I had lost contact with because between work and not feeling well (I did not know at the time I had cancer)she heard that I had cancer and asked another friend for my number. She called and said she wanted to help me in anyway if she could because she know the fear I am facing because she had lung…

Question for those of you on avastin
I just started avastin every 21 days (400ml). (I will also do 75ml/m2 taxotere and AUC5carbo.) I am curious what dosage others are getting of avastin. I know a couple of you are on avastin maintainance too, so I am curious about how that is working also. My doctor has purposely given me time between my avastin and chemo to…

Ground turkey
Hi ladies. Do any of you use ground turkey rather than ground beef? There are mixed reviews out there as to which is better. When I use ground beef, it is very lean. My sister and her husband purchased 1/4 of local butchered beef last fall. I mostly eat chicken or fish, but sometimes I have to have a change. I just told my…

Daily Low Dose Aspirin
"Taking a low dose of aspirin every day can prevent and possibly even treat cancer, fresh evidence suggests." http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-17443454 I'm going to start. The risks associated with low doses (baby aspirin is 80 mg) are almost negligible. Not sure which doc I'll discuss this with, probably both my family…

What can you tell me??
I am not on this site everyday but I do recognize many of the beautiful faces and beautiful words. I just read about Rooker Bird, who has just recently passed away. Rooker Bird is gone
I was hoping someone else would post this, but I guess I get to be the bearer of bad news, yet again. Rooker Bird (Kathy Salvie) passed away last Tuesday. About 6 months ago, Kathy had her son drive her the 25 or so miles from her house to mine. She wanted to meet me, and give me some things for my local support group. She…
