After having surgery on 10/17/08 (after 3 weeks of extreme abdominal pain) to remove what the doctor thought was a benign ovarian cyst, they discovered it was instead Ovarian Cancer. I went for my first visit to the gyn. oncologist at the Cancer Institute of NJ. Next week I will be having a complete hysterectomy and…

Hi Ladies, I got the results of my full body bone scan and NO cancer. But she did say that the kidney/ureter was swollen. (May be why I was having lower back pain). Anyways, I am Praising the Lord that there was no metastasis into the bones. And will make an appointment to see a urinologist. I asked my onc/gyn was it from…

Has anyone tried or considered Acupuncture or Hypnotism?
Hello, Ladies, I'm just curious as to whether or not acupuncture or hynotism might be helpful in keeping the cancer away, and helping to control the stress and side effects. Has anyone looked into this, or tried this? Love & Prayers to all~ ~Susan xoxo

CHRISTMAS CARDS
Hello to all my Friends: For years I have been purchased Christmas cards from the ACS. However, this year I was hoping to find some that would specifically support Ovarian Cancer research, etc. Is anyone aware? I've done some Google searches and only came up with notecards, as opposed to Christmas cards. And the money…

Could it be OC or just my imagination running wild again???
Hello, new to the OC posting but unfortunately not new to this site. I'm a 2-1/2 year breast cancer survivor. Was diagnosed with Stage 1 BC in Feb, 2006 - spent 1-1/2 years in treatment and have been doing okay except for a few scares and nervous doctor checkups, etc...the usual paranoia after anyone has been diagnosed…

PICC line yes no
Hi eveyone, I had a nasty day of chemo today. Put it this way, I'm typing with just one hand, and it's not the one I write with! Anyway, I'll survive - it helps that my husband says that I type faster with my left hand than he does with both! What I was wondering about is now they're really suggesting a picc line for my…

How does an abnormal pap test relate to previous ovarian cancer?
I received a call from the nurse at my doctor's office late this afternoon. I waited 16 days for the results and finally called this morning since I didn't get a postcard in the mail. There were some abnormal cells on my cervical cuff (cervix removed during surgery Jan. 2007) but she says it doesn't mean cancer. I think…

I am 48 and survived breast cancer (stage 3) at age 40. I was diagnosed in April of this year, presenting with constipation…

Report on CT
Well, the CT scan did not show anything, but they don't show spots or lesions less than 1 cm. The physical detected nothing either but because the CA-125 is such a good marker for me, a rise from below 10 to 50 in two months indicates that something is growing and we just can't see it yet. I have three choices (1) Continue…

Tamoxifen and CA-125
Hello to all, As I've posted before, I've been prescribed tamoxifen because my CA-125 started rising in September last year. It peaked at 284 about two months after I started taking tamoxifen, and has been going down since. My October reading was 114, still high, but not causing me much concern. Since the CA-125 started…
