Home from the hospital
Hi all. Well the surgery is done and after 5 days in the hospital I finally got home. The good news is the pathology report shows the make up of the tumor is the same as the 1st and 2nd time. My dr is still convinced we are dealing with slow growing leftovers. It was totally localized and other than the one spot none of…

New to this board
Hello all, I've been reading the board for awhile now to help me understand what I may be facing. I was diagnosed in mid December with Stage II colorectal cancer. I have already gone through 5 1/2 weeks of radiation with chemo (Xeloda). I still have some pain (quite a lot actually) due to the radiation burns, but seems…

Noon32316 On Port Implant
For some reason I cannot reply to posts since last night changes, but can start a thread The port implant was pretty minor for me. In fact I was not even put totally under, just more in twilight zone. Was even joking with surgeon and told me a couple of points to be quiet :) I have had mine in 15 months or so and hardluy…

Port implant...nervous
Hello all, I am scheduled for the port implant on May 5th. I was told it's a minor surgical procedure but my nerves are getting the best of me. And of course, I made the mistake of googling... I'm overwhelmed all over again, just like dealing with the aftermath of the resection. I've been reading about terrible experiences…

Cancer and marriage.
Many years ago I heard a story of a couple where the wife got breast cancer and wasn't supposed to make it. Her husband took time off to care for her and make her comfortable as much as possible. Their marriage became centered around the cancer naturally. By miracle of miracles she became NED and actually beat cancer. A…

Running out of options
I'm still reading most days, but haven't posted in a while. My liver mets are back in full force 6 months after SIRT. Mostly under one cm but filing most of a lobe. Interventional radiologist says I'm back to systemic care for the rest of my life. I'm currently on Lonsurf which doesn't appear to be working but we'll give…

Hair.....
I am stage 2b. The oncologist ordered 6 weeks of 24/7 5-Fu chemo (in the pack) Monday-Friday with daily radiation, followed by 4 months of once a week chemo. He said there could be hair thinning and some mild hair loss. I'm curious how it has affected others. Should I expect to lose a noticeable amount of hair?

Hi all. Tomorrow I get the joy of surgery prep clean out. I have done nothing but think of food today knowing it will be at least 4 days until I get to eat.....jello. Surgery is scheduled for Saturday. I have been told I will be in the hospital 5 to 6 days depending how fast I bounce back. No one is expecting issues but it…

Colonoscopy and results
I had a coloscopy back on April 4 and got a call from the doctor yesterday with results. 2 polyps were removed and one showed pre-cancer while the other showed actual cancer cells on the "tip" of the polyp. My doctor called it intermucosal carcinoma and believes that all was removed successfully. I had blood in my stool…

Just Had My First Glass Of Gatorade and Miralax :)
Guess what is in store for tomorrow? So far nothing happening. But need to have another three glasses in the next hour. Cannot wait :) Kidding aside, I have gotten a couple of people to do this and told them no matter how this part is not a barrel of laughs for 1/2 day or so, it is a heck of a lot better than missing…

Sun Sensitivity?
We're having unseasonably warm weather here and I got a sunburn this past weekend. Not a bad one, just very red, sensitive skin and a nose like Rudolph the reindeer. It made me think of my aunt who passed away from bladder cancer after having beat breast cancer ten years before. She passed away 20 years ago so her…

Stage 3 Diagnosis
Greetings. I'm fairly new to online forums and completely new to the world of cancer at 36 years old. I was diagnosed late in March. Had open sigmoid colon resection at the beginning of April and learned it was Stage 3 that spread to my lymph nodes. It has been a whirlwind and I still don't understand 99% of this language…

Mom has colon cancer stage 4
My family learned of my mom's colon cancer with mets to her liver and lungs in February after she had a colonoscopy. She had abdominal pain and a constant bloated feeling before she had her colonoscopy done. She's 57 and will be 58 in a couple of months. I'm taking care of her and working from home. My family and I have…

Awesome empathy cards!
You would think after almost 9 years I would know what to say when someone has cancer, after all I've had it. Well I don't. I think it's because I don't know the person really well. So I took to the internet and found this website with the best cards! If I ever have a good friend with cancer, these are what I would send.…

Did something positive today!
I renewed my passport for ten years. I'm copunting on that I'll need it that long. And that some day we'll be able to afford to go somewhere. It makes me feel so good to have done that, it really improved my mood more than I expected it would. Funny how the little things can do that. Yup, I have a passport again. I may not…

Feeling drained
Hi all. Tomorrow is the service for my long time friend who passed away from cancer a little over a week ago. Today I said my final goodbye to my best friend. She is losing her battle with ALS and will be gone in a day if not hours. I won't see her on this earth again. My own surgery is a week from Saturday. I am…

New here
I am glad that I found this support group. I had my first Colonoscopy on Feb 23/16 and was shocked to find that I have sigmoid colon cancer. I wish, I had done colonoscopy earlier but I lived in Canada until August last year and the colonoscopy is not part of regular check. They do a stool test but mine was negative three…

My first day here
In December 2015 I got the news. I have colon cancer, stage 3. Slated for chemo and radiation in January but a total blockage required an emergency colostomy. I was able to talk the Dr into only a week delay to begin treatment. I completed the planned chemo and radiation March 11. Surgery scheduled for 6 weeks later to…

Well, I am here
I was diagnosed Feb 4. I posted here at the end of February, and now I am posting again. I'm about to go through my fifth major chemo treatment this Thursday. It's become routine, unfortunately. By far the hardest part of this has been the emotional turmoil I have felt. It is so very difficult to get up every day, go to…

New Side Effect today
Ok... I don't want to gross anyone out but I'm concerned. My cancer is very, very low. I only have 9 more radiation treatments. The doctor said that I will have some "toxicity" in the whole general area. Today I started cramping and I have a nasty yellow discharge from my vagina. I'm 63 years old and never had any such…

Scan time again!
My husband Tim will have his 15th folfox treatment tomorrow and then Friday is scan day! He received such good results last scan so I am thinking the chemo will take care of the rest that was still in his lungs. Send good thoughts our way on Friday!
