update on exchange surgery
Well I had my exchange surgery last Monday and boy am I glad that is over! It was a little more painful than I thought it would be, but still nothing like the original surgery. Since my left side was radiated, they could not use the original side incision and had to make a new incision at the bottom of my breast right…

A wonderful story to share
Yesterday, on the sixth day of staying with my sister in the hospital, I ventured out for my dinner. The hospital is a block from Syracuse University and, therefore has endless eateries. I chose Chipotle - I love Mexican, and it smelled incredible when I opened the door. I had never been to this chain before and wasn't…

Trip to Sloan Kettering
Hi Dear Pink Ladies Not sure if I posted about this all important appointment to Sloan Kettering. SO here's what I was told. The doctor still believes that the wait and watch approach is the best move for now. He said that the largest of the nodules are 8mm and 9mm but still under the size of 1cm. A biopsy is easier when…

Your prayers are starting to work
Hi wonderful ladies! I can't even begin to tell you how thankful I am for your kind words, support, and most of all PRAYERS! A few months ago I was told that my cancer had become terminal. Its hard for me to put into words just how devastated I was. At 21 years old, this is not how I pictured my life to look like, but I am…

Weaning off of Drugs
Have any of you weaned off of Paxil, Ativan or Ambein. I need any advice on weaning from these drugs. There have been times in a 24 hour period that I’ve only spelt 2 hours, due to insomnia. I want off this rollercoaster, but it’s easier said than done. I was on 20mg of Paxil since 8/11 and did get down to 10mg starting…

Unsupportive husband
Hi, I was diagnosed with breast cancer 3 weeks ago. I have always been having problems with my husband, he is an unemotional jerk. The only credit I can give him is that he has financially been supporting me since 1997. But I cannot get this **** to open up to me and reveal his true feelings. He is extremely protective of…

More 'Life' stuff going on
Some of you know about my sister. For those who don't, she suffered a coronary blockage Monday. However, she was right next door to a fabulous hospital and a nurse immediately administered CPR. EMT's & ER did a fantastic job and the ICU (she's still there) is awesome. There is so much more to this event, but the most…

breast removal last week
I have been bottling all my anger and frustrations up ever since I was diagnosed with BC. After several months of treatment and only being able to stop it from spreading I finally gave in and did about an 80% removal June 13th. I was a DDD and now I'm a small B. I'm lost and all the emotions I have been holding back from…

Making Strides Against...boob jobs?
Some of you will remember my first experience at an ACS Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K walk 2 years ago, when I was just a few months out of treatment. None of my friends would go with me, so I went alone, and found it very cliqueish and unfriendly and discouraging. This year, a Making Strides was scheduled for…

Really just so disappointed
My implant became contaminated some weeks ago. What happened is that there was a rough patch of skin that began to leak clear fluid, effectively it was called a seroma. My PS insisted it was contaminated although the culture came back that it wasn't infected. So, it was exchanged for a new implant. All was well and the…

Saw the BS for follow up
Well I saw my breast surgeon for follow up from surgery. She said the chemo did a great job on the cancer but did not kill it all... I still had some cells left until she got rid of them with surgery! I am so relieved to get that news, however like so many there is a part of me that is petrified it will show up somewhere…

Hematomas
I had a double mastectomy with nipple saving plastic surgery on Tuesday the 19th of June. I am home with the bags hanging and although fluids are running in, I am a little worried about breast firmness in left breast as I had to have a second surgery that day to have a large hematoma removed at 11;30 pm in that breast. The…

Have had the chemo, surgery, and currently in radiation. Next step is long term use of an aromatase inhibitor. OT--teenagers
As the parent of a teenage boy (he turns 16 next week) I am experiencing some frustration here, there, and everywhere. Don't get me wrong, I am very proud of my son. He is bright, healthy, has a wicked sense of humor, is usually responsible, and is very creative. Yes, I am blessed. But lately the 'I know everything' and…

PET scan results. Wish I had better news.
I'm still trying to digest everything but apparently I have more going on than just a lung nodule. There is something on T3 & L3 & my sternum. Also two issues in my upper right chest above the mastectomy site maybe both above and below the chest wall? The PET mentions two foci in the right lung (I don't know if that means…

6 days after 3rd chemo and still feel like crap
I am so stinking sick of feeling like this! Does anyone else have severe stomach pain that won't go away with the meds? The Oncologist said to experiment with Zophran, Compazine, Pepcid AC and Tylenol to see which works best. I took all of them on Monday at different times and came home early from work to writhe on the…

Now for the photos
I posted a couple of photos on my expressions page http://csn.cancer.org/user/111056/view/expressions I think that might work. Of all the photos my daughter took, which were many, we either had goofy expressions on our faces, or they were out of focus, or our eyes were closed ...... so this is the best I could do without…

Totally off topic but normal news
Since NED has decided to desert a bunch of us, and the world is a bit gloomy, I thought that I would post about my weekend. I live in Colorado and flew to NY state to be a bridesmaid. I am 59 years old and actually there were 2 of us that are 59! One bride wore white and the other bride work her air force uniform. Yep you…
