Question for those on (or who had) TC (taxotere/cytoxan)
I am in the middle of four rounds of Taxotere/Cytoxan (TC). My doctor said that after the four rounds, if I am handling the treatment well, he wants to do two more for a total of 6. The first oncologist I saw said 4 rounds was enough. Apparently, there are studies underway now to determine if the standard treatment should…

vent - husband being a jerk
I was diagnosed 3 weeks after my mother-in-law died. For about 8 months my husband kept blaming me for getting cancer. "I haven't been able to mourn my mother because of this." Like I asked God to give me breast cancer right then. He told me this at least once a month. Then he lost his job right before my…

Being around "normal" (non-cancer) people is hard for me sometimes
Hi all: Had an overall good weekend being with friends and visiting Busch Gardens and Water Country USA with all our kids. But it was hard at times, feeling like I was on such a different plane than they all are. They are not bald, they did not have to go through chemo, they do not have cancer, they are not worried every…

Any advice on a mastectomy bra insert?
When I had my mastectomy at Baylor, I was told I could get a protheses in the store in the hospital. It was around $400.00 and they didn't file on insurance. My insurance would pay 80%, but I would have to come up with the money up front and then file myself to get some back from insurance. I didn't have the $400 at that…

Prayers Needed in Crisis
I am going in for my radiation mapping appointment tomorrow morning with treatments beginning on July 6th. I'm nervous and emotionally drained. We need your prayers desperately. My mother-in-law is crazy. She dropped a bomb on me this past Wednesday. You see, she owns the house we live in (no she doesn't live with us) and…

Does radiation make sense when you have already gotten chemo?
Or do you cause more cancer by having it? What are your thoughts? Eva

Chemo #1 down
Had my first chemo on Friday June 25th. They put the chemo port in on Thursday. I think having the port surgery one day and the chemo the next was a little much but have survived. Have got along pretty well, they gave me a nausea drug to take 1 hour before chemo started and then take a pill for two days around the same…

mini celebration
I have made it half way through chemo. So far I have only had to use intermittent FMLA about one day out of every two weeks. Hoping to be able to do the same through the second half of chemo.

Triple negative Stage
SO now that I have read everything on this disease that some of us have......how do we know the chemo is even working? As in my case I have the surgery before the chemo. I also read it can come back while on chemo...... Isn't there any news for us to put this in remission?

Thanks for the prayers! I seem to be one of the lucky ones, so far.
Dear Pink sisters, I'm *Really* grateful for all the good advice, and good wishes!! The bilateral mastectomy went very well, and I got the drains out after only a week. Now I'm beginning to do those exercises some of you told me about, slowly. I'm wiped out energetically, of course, but there's been a fraction of the pain…

For those who HATE vein sticks -
last Wed. I had a blood draw before appt. the next day. Why I thought about it I don't know but I did as I had a flush after appt. so had to use EMLA cream for port the next day but forgot to until a few minutes before flush so it 'kinda smarted'. Well I put EMLA on vein before I left home and though it never bothers me…

Pink Sisters: What do you think if we do this for Pinkkari09 - (Kari)?
Hello Pink Sisters, I would dike to extend my apologies to Kari (Pinkkari09) if I am crossing boundaries, but please know I do it with respect and with warm intentions. The truth is, I can't stop thinking about pinkkari09. And I thought of something. I am taking a chance and not minding my own business, because I care and…

Casting For Recovery
Has anyone had any experience with them? (www.castingforrecovery.com) I found it this morning and it sounds like something I'd like to try. It's apparently a 2 1/2 day Retreat for women who are BC Survivors where you learn to do fly fishing. Sounds like fun to me - I fish but never tried to fly fish. It's cost free other…

side effect of chemo
Has anyone ever heard that lymphoma is a possible side effect of chemo? I was told this by a surgeon on Friday (6/24/11) Found the enlarged node (size of a walnut) last Saturday, full body CT on Wednesday, surgeon on Friday. I am scheduled for surgery on Monday (6/27/11). The first doctor I saw last Tuesday that got the…

if my primary care doesn't react to bloodwork results, should I ?
I have been having UTIs and I am have an appt. with a urologist, but my latest bloodwork had elevated levels-- in two places relating to "Eos"---my little research didn't reveal anything "good" about that, however my doctor didn't mention a thing. So....?????? It looks like my "benign" kidney stones are beginning to cause…

First I would like to say thanks for the prayers for my friend and neighbor. Her surgery went well and the tumor was removed. The good news is that it was not cancer. She is feeling better today and is being released from the hospital tomorrow. Hugs, Georgia

Disgusted
I just have to post this. I saw in the paper today that there is a re-make of the movie Pride and Prejudice. The new movie is...drum roll... Pride and Prejudice and Zombies! I'm not kidding. What's next? Huck Finn and Zombies; The Grapes of Wrath and Frankenstein; The Scarlet Letter and the Blob......

I'm a lucky one -
I do have good news! Well basically good news - there are 3 issues that could have been better yesterday but not really bad as far as I know now. I saw my PA yesterday for semi-annual appt. I have been having more pain problems with my back - have had arthritis for years. She thinks (and so do I) that it's just the…

side effect of chemo
Has anyone ever heard of lymphoma as a side effect of chemo? I was told today by a surgeon (the same group that did my initial surgery), that it has been shown to be a side effect. When I asked why no one bothered to tell me, the answer was, "If we told you everything (all possible) side effects, it would take years." I am…

Tamoxifen question
Hi - I'm new to this, so not sure I'm doing it right...I'm a recent breast cancer survivor (yea!) and on Tamoxifen. I've already gone through menopause, so dealt for years with hot flashes, but nothing like this! Is anyone else experiencing this? Is there something I can do about it without taking any hormones?? Pretty…
