Official Chemosabe
First chemo session under my belt. It was a long day. Got there at 10:30, left at 5:15. Everything went well, no allergic reaction to the carbo or taxol, which they infused at a slow rate. Started and finished my book (HeLa). I felt pretty normal last night so I walked around the block, had some soup and a popsicle and…

Rough Day
Ladies, I had a bit of a rough day today and need some of your positive juices. I had an ultrasound on Wednesday and the results show mets have taken residence in my liver. I'm about 2 months short of 4 years since DX [10/2011], and today was chemo #35. I know I've got a lot to be thankful for. At chemo, I met a lovely…

I was reading a very interesting thread, you've probably guessed I'm new here, from lindaprocopio It referred to a CA125 of 154, after remission, but her profile says she last posted in 2011 and this thread was from 2009, I am really interested by her story as there were some similarities to mine, can anyone throw some…

Good Luck tomorrow. I know you will do GREAT! I'll be thinking about you. For me, chemo #2 out of the way! 16 more to go. This one was easier on me emotionally. And, pushing on the port hurt less. Which is still not healed all the way. Funny Story - The Chemo Nurse was trying to talk to this lady about getting a port. She…

Granulation tissue biopsy after surgery
I was diagnosed with Endometrial Adenocarcinoma Grade 1 in March, and I had a hysterectomy with da Vinci robot on April 17 (Stage Ia). I've felt fine since then and had no problems/symptoms. Yesterday I saw my oncologist for a follow-up. He said I have what appears to be "granulation tissue" at the top of the vaginal cuff.…

Treatment Plan Radiation and Chemo Concurrently, Stage 1A, Grade 2
Hi All, Been a few weeks since I posted. My oncologist wants to do radiation and chemo at the same time. Is this normal? I worry my constitution won't hold up for both simultaneously. Let me know how you did it please? Was it as the same time or one at a time. What works best. I believe perhaps a lymph node may be affected…

Chemo #24 yesterday and Nuelasta shot today. 3 years ago this week i heard that dreadful word "cancer" and got on this crazy roller coaster ride. I thought I had ruined our life in every way, but it has turned out to be quite the opposite. I have found out how much my husband, children and friends love me. i have…

carrot juice for headache
I found out that drinking carrot juice daily for cancer solved my problem with the headaches I have had since I was a kid. Thit is strange to me, but I don't take pain pill for headache for second week already even the headache got worse with the chemo. Maybe my discovery can help someone else.

lorraine
It's been a while since I've been on here. Lorraine has stage 4 ovarian, but I posted on the uterine board because...well, because I was confused. Lorraine just finished her 3rd surgery on Monday. This was a hernia/bowel surgery. Overall things are okay. Her marker # which before her initial surgery was 8,000, last check…

Port - Post Surgery Pain
Hi All, Got my port in yesterday. I wasn't expecting pain afterwards. Silly me! I'm using ice packs as suggested and taking Advil. My pain is in strange places... like behind my shoulder blade and behind my bicep muscle. In addition to the actual port site. Did any of you experience this? Also, I get my first chemo this…

Side Effects of Megace and Oral Cytoxan(cyclophosphamide)?
Has anyone out there been on Megace and/or oral Cytoxan(cyclophosphamide)? If so, did you have abdominal pain as a side effect? My mother has been on Megace since February and Cytoxan since May. She is having acute stomach pains in the lower abdomen, especially when walking for any period of time. She had a colon resection…

An expected bump in the road
Well, my week went all to hell. Late Tuesday night I woke up with horrible pains in my abdomen. At first I thought it was just a gas pain, though the worst have them have subsided in the past week. Within 10 minutes, I knew it was something worse. So, off to the ER. An ultrasound and a CT scan showed the sphincter between…

Our furry family members are so affected by our journeys - Editgirl this is for you! Plus some thing
It has been a hard week or so for me. My last treatment went fine but post treatment my counts all took a dive. I can't even describe to anyone adequately what my energy level was (or wasn't). Just total exhaustion. Other signs of a platelet issue included bleeding gums and crusty blood in my nose in the am, diaharea, zero…

My doctor said I can have my port remove at my first three month check up..strange?
I had my first follow up with my oncolgest today. The office was packed and he was running 2 1/2 hours late. When it was my turn to get examined, he mention to the nurse I can be set up to have my port removed. Then he said, no wait, let's get her pet scan first. He didn't order blood work, which was strange to me. Is that…

On the way to chemo town...
So I met with my medical oncologist yesterday who will be handling the chemotherapy. 6 rounds of carbo/taxol 3 weeks apart. Interesting about your 18 week plan, TeddyandBears. I have to say that a smaller dose sounds appealing to me, and I may bring this up to my doctor. I am a later stage, though, and I wonder if that…

Gc maf, have you heard anything about it
I read in Internet, sounds good, but is it true? https://gcmaf.se/ As for many other "cures" we don't know what to believe. I would try marihuana for sure, if not for the cancer for my headache. Today for first time I tried yoga for beginners from you tube and I liked it. Just an update. Surgery in May, after 3 chemo…

I don't trust the numbers
I am glad none of my doctors have told me what the chances are that I will have a recurrence and how much time I have left to live. If I were told I had a low chance of recurrence I'm afraid I would see it as a guarantee and choose not to get all the preventative treatment I might need. On the other hand, if I were given a…

Intraperitoneal Chemo
Since Dx and surgery 11/2011 (stage IVb) I have tried numerous chemo combinations. After 3 rounds of taxol-carboplatin (6 sessions each) between 12/2011 and 6/2014, I was determined to be platinum resistant. My CA 125 ran between 30 and 36 last summer. Last December my CA 125 was 74, and I started on doxil. After 3…

I need to ask. Is it the treatments we go through to live causing more deaths then the cancer itself
Most times when I hear people passing on from cancer, it's actually the treatment, chemo, radiation, complications from surgeries that caused their death before the actual cancer. I'm going for my first follow up check with my oncolagest on Tuesday. I've been putting it off because I don't want to keep checking for cancer.…
