My CA125 went from 22 to 46 to 59. I have different symptoms this time. I have nausea ,indigestion. My oncologist suggested I get a upper GI test and they said it was a fungus caused by the cancer. Did this happen to anyone? Is it a bad sign that I have a recurrance in only 4 months and when they start more chemo could I…

Linda's GO appointment: Good News
Hello everyone. Friday was my wife's appointment with her gynecological oncologist. We've been going for treatments to a hospital closer to us (a good decision) but retained the GO for supervision and the fact that he's been treating her since 2005. This was my wife's third go-round with chemo, Cisplatin and Taxotere. The…

Recurrence and ascites
I’m hoping somebody can give me some advice about a possible recurrence. My treatment for stage iv ovca ended nearly 12 months ago and I’d been doing quite well until about 6 weeks ago when my abdomen started swelling. I mentioned it to the oncologist at my last check up which was about a month ago and she just seemed to…

Mom's oncologist called today and is frantically trying to get Mom in a clinical trial asap. She feels her current chemo is…

How many Carbos can you have?
Hi, I have had two carbo treatments in the past 3 years( 1st 6 then additional 10). I asked my dr. when the taxol/avastin no longer works(its is at this time) what is next? He suggested the normal stuff which I have not done, and then I added can we do carbo again? He said I would have to wait 1 1/2 years since I have done…

I'm on my holiday chemo break
and loving it. I so deserve this break for I've been chemoing since last January. I made my sugar cookie cut outs and shopped till I dropped for silly toys (THAT doesn't take long!) I know I have to go back to reality after New Year's, but in the meantime I plan to enjoy every minute. I hope to be strong enough to make a…

Gemzar & Avastin - Need Advice
Well I just got back from my doctor's appointment. Not very good news. The spot in my liver has grown. It is now 1 3/4 inches. It was only an 1 inch. (sorry I don't do cm). So the Metformin pill did not do anything for me. I also have another spot that lit up on the PET/Scan a lymph node the size of 1/2 inch. It is along…

Checking In
Hello to all the ladies on this board. I have missed keeping up with so many of you. I no longer have my internet at home, so it is hit and miss at the library. This has been a year of great change for me. After losing my job of 22 years, I got one job that was part time, graduated from school with my associate degree,…

After one treatment with Gemzar, my CA-125 went from 720 to 437. Yipee!! And all my blood work is normal. My main side effect has been constipation, with just a teeny bit of nausea. I'm stoked! I want to see single digits this time!

Altered bowels habits
I am worrying about my bowels at the moment. I go about 6 times a day only to pass small soft amounts that are yellowy/brown in colour. I do pass a lot of wind too. I was on doxil and have just been switched to carboplatin/taxol. I am quite worried about a blockage but have had a CT scan, an x-ray and a ultra-sound and my…

Hi everyone. Mum had her last chemo a week ago Friday, and she had to see her consultant on Monday , every thing good, they will do a ct scan / blood text beginning of January to get a baseline picture, is she now in remission as treatment has ended? Or is it classed as remission after her 3 month blood test comes back…

2nd chemo harder than the first
I tried to prepare myself that chemo effects are cumulative but my 2nd infusion has really taken the wind out of my sails. Nausea manageable but oh my the deep bone pain is gruesome. I had to take 1/2 percocet last night to get some sleep. And heavy duty meds like that really do a number on me. So I'm not sure if today I…

My neighbor has OVCA - at least stage 3
I was shocked to find a prayer request in my email this morning from a member of my local support group. Someone had forwarded a message about "a woman in my church who is having surgery today for ovarian cancer". Turns out it's my neighbor, a retired RN who was so kind and helpful following my own de-bulking and long,…

My mom, my best friend, is having a recurrence after 6 years of remission--just need to talk about i
with those who understand. After reading some of the stories on here--I understand how truly blessed we've been that my Mom has felt so good for so long. She started having what we thought were bouts of bronchitis in August. She ended up in the emergency room in October with extreme shortness of breath and they sent her to…

Kindness Advice for when Mom is so discourged
Well Mom is depressed and very fatigued...she's not sure if its the cancer or the chemo. She started PARPs one month ago, and she has been fatigued ever since. She fell last week, didn't break any bones, but bruised her knee badly and has a bruise under her eye, on her cheek. She is hobbling, and miserable I would say. She…

Gemzar question
Has anyone who's had Gemzar ever experienced any side effects 8 to 9 days after receiving the drug? I had my first dose with Carbo on Nov 26th and then the single dose a week later on Dec 3rd. I have just recently developed what looks likes a rash/blood spots on my arms and legs and I'm short of breath just walking 10 to…
