Musings About Birthdays
Soon I celebrate another birthday. I'm not young; but I'm not old. I used to downplay/ignore birthdays and thought of them as no big deal if it was not a year in which I reached some milestone: 18, 21, 30, 40, 50, the other decades, and then senior discount milestones (50, 55, 60, .... A cancer survivor should be thankful…

Bone Mets only
Hello. I was wondering if there are any women out there who have or are experiencing metastisis STRICTLY to the bones and nowhere else? I'm told that my bc is not curable but treatable. Seeing as I'm ER+ and Her2- my bc is considered a "slow" or "indolent" disease. Many calcifications were noted in my left breast in 2008…

Chemo before or After Surgery
Hi everyone, I am newly diagnosed DCIS and invasive (DCI). I'm a triple negative grade 3 cancer - thus, very agressive but fortunately, still small (1.9cm). I am in the early stages of this whole nightmare. I was diagnosed 5/5/15 and am 55 y.o.. going in for a sentinal lymph node biopsy in the am. Cancer Treatment Centers of America
Hi All, I've had a heck of a time finding someone in the Phoenix area who does DIEP reconstruction. There are two med centers who do it. Two docs are at Mayo which my insurance covers only as out of network and I would pay 40% of what Mayo charges out of network people (higher) with no maximum cap on out of pocket…

5 days post BMX w/o reconstruction-- numbness
BRCA-2 with tumor on one side, had BMX with SLNB on one side just five days ago. Two nodes removed. No reconstruction. I have been doing well with recovery-- stripping my own drains, doing small tasks around my house, and taking it easy too. Tapered off the pain meds pretty quickly. However, I was unprepared for how…

Is this what your Relay for Life is like?
My oncologist's office decided to form a team for Relay for Life this year -- all the doctors, nurses, and administrative staff participated, and they raised over 12 thousand dollars! The event was yesterday on the football field at a local middle school -- I baked cookies for them, and my partner Trace and I went out…
