I feel so proud and free!!
This may not be a big deal to you brave ladies, but it was a first for me. It's so hot, and, since chemo came along, I seem to be hot even when the weather isn't. Since finishing chemo, I'm trying to be better about exercising and trying to lose some of the weight that I have gained. So, this evening I went to the fitness…

Useful prescription information for others in the future?
Being Triple Negative, I'm new to taking pills for chemo but, with the recurrence, I will be starting on Xeloda probably next week. My cancer center got the prescription filled through their pharmacy and I was told it had a zero dollar co-pay. Today I received a phone call from someone informing me that they work with my…

Far away friend just diagnosed.
Hi everyone, I got a call from my best friend in L.A. (I'm from Portland, OR) telling me she has been diagnosed with breast cancer. She is the first person close to me who has been diagnosed. I want so much to support her, but I'm not sure how since I live so far away. I'm kind of an organizational control freak and it's…

radiation side effects
I am due to start radiation in a few weeks and currently have an expander in place following a single mastectomy. I was wondering how other women with expanders faired in regards to skin thickening, encapsulation, etc. Also, have others experienced fatigue from radiation? I have heard various reports on this. Thank you!

My best friend has recently been diagnosed with BC. I've told her about this site and hope that she looks here and finds it as comforting as I did/do.…

Some can donate blood/organs after BC
Roseann posted the great news that she has been approved to donate a kidney to her Son after BC. That is fantastic but quite complicated to be able to do BUT for many of us who have been blood donors and thought that we could not ever donate again - we can (as long as everything else makes us elligiable). We can also be…

Another soul seeking advice and/or guidance regarding whether or not to do chemo.
I am so happy to have found this network. I was diagnosed with breast cancer 3 mo before my 48th birthday. I had a bilateral mastectomy on May 30, 2012 and began reconstruction at the same time. I was stage 2. They removed only 8 lymph nodes and my surgeon said that they considered that clear. My oncotype score is 11. My…

Had another surgery yesterday
Hi ladies! I had a follow up surgery yesterday so that my surgeon could drain all the fluid from my wound and remove all of the dead tissue. Unfortunately when she went in there, she found that the cancer has already started to grow back in small nodules. This means that I have to start treatments immediately. We were…

Hi Everyone! I was approved as a kidney donor for my son and the surgery is on the 25th of July which is next Wed. As some of you know, my bc was discovered during my donor screening 3 1/2 years ago. I had…

Waiting... is over
Friday the 13th turned out to be just that... I had a follow up ultrasound, and being that I have had lots of fibrous tissues show was not overly concerned when they told me they wanted to take a couple of pictures. But then they said the radiologist wanted to talk with me about what she was seeing and I started getting a…

Are sharp pains a symptom???
Hello All, So I am a fellow lymphoma survivor and I am freaking out a bit. I developed a lump in my right breast a few years ago but it never bothered me. I had an ultra sound done on it shortly after I discovered it but the doctor claimed nothing looked unusual and it was probably just breast tissue. A few months ago I…

Love my NEW MO
OMG ... a lot of the crap I've been through would not have happened IF I had this MO in the first place. She and I are on the same page. I told her why I was in search of a new doctor. I was diagnosed on August 26 of last year. Surgery in September. Then a second surgery for clean margins in November. That was way too…
