great day for race/walk for the cure
God blessed us with a glorious day to participate in the Detroit Komen race/walk for the cure today. 3 of us survivors, my 2 daughters, family, friends, and supporters did the walk. What a beautiful feeling to cross under the pink balloon arches. I pray for a cure so no one we love has to go through this. Bless all of the…

Then last year I also talked to another lady who was on her 3rd bout with breast cancer since 2003. She was taking chemo(3rd time) and has a long…

Help Me please. Tell me I am not the only one who has a husband that is acting strangly. I was diagnosed in January, had chemo. 8 weeks which knocked me on my butt, had a double mastectomy in March and am currently doing rads. I know that is a lot to go through. Sometimes I want to talk about things with him. he used to be…

Anyone have ONE incision for lumpectomy & sentinel node biopsy?
I have a friend who's meeting with surgeons to schedule her lumpectomy, and one surgeon is telling her he can probably do the lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy through only one incision. I'm just wondering if any of you have had this? I'm thinking, even if the lump was way over on the side, that would have to be a very…

how to describe to non-chemo people why/how post chemo feels so bad
Hi guys: Ok, I know you pink sisters who have been through chemo "get it" - chemo sucks! I actually did great with Taxol, am doing less well with FEC. People ask me how I feel and I tell them "lousy" (days 3-6). It;s hard to describe what is lousy, though, I don;t throw up, I don't have pain; but I feel extreme fatigue, a…

bruise from surgery 6 months ago
I had expander exchanged for implant surgery back in November and I've have a large purple bruise ever since. I realize that some bruising is to be expected and can last for some time. But for 6 months? This does nothing to enhance the look of the reconstructed breast. Especially with that scar located right above it. The…

hi everyone, been so long
I just wanted to let you know that i am still around and feeling ok. I have been in the hospital twice. I just had a stint put in my liver, this is a temporary fix, but i am hoping it gives me sometime to keep fighting. I am not in as much pain as i was, so this is good news, just have to gain some weight back. Hope…

Herceptin questions
Hi All New to the breast cancer board as I was just diagnosed. Stage 1, grade 3. Invasive ductal. Was told if I did a double mastectomy, I would be able to avoid chemo. Onc called today and said it's HER2 positive and wants to sit down and discuss further, but will probably recommend herceptin with chemo after surgery.…

Eye toruble; falling trouble
Hi all. Just found you today, and boy, can I ask questions! About a thousand, but I'll leave it at two. Into my third chemo session of four, and having serious eye problems. I am an avid reader so it is problematic, but even in general I experience tearing, burning, blurry vision. Anyone else? Any panaceas(beside the…

PINK FIRE TRUCKS!
My daughter alerted me to the Pink Fire Truck tour that was in a nearby town so I decided to check it out. I have posted several photo's in the expressions gallery if you are interested in seeing them. It was a very powerful site to see, each fire truck is covered with hand written messages.

Higher pulse - a chemo side effect?
Hi everyone, I have experienced an increased heart rate since my first chemo a week ago. Did anyone else experience this? What did your doctors say about it? Does it go back down in between chemo cycles? Does it go back after chemo is all done? Eva

I promise
if I should ever become too ill to communicate with you for whatever reason that I will assign a family member or friend to provide an occasional update. This thought is obviously prompted by not hearing from Meena for a long time. I check the thread often, now with much trepidation. I sincerely respect her privacy at this…

Medical Biomagnetism
Anyone heard of Medical Biomagnetism as a means to possibly cure cancer and other diseases? I have a friend who was just diagnosed with bc, and she is thinking of delaying surgery and chemo, etc. in favor of pursuing alternative treatments in biomagetism. I've been trying to discover what the ACS, Mayo Clinic, and other…

I'm Not Coping Well & In Tears
I'm scheduled for mastectomy surgery on June 1st. Last week when, together with my surgeon and my husband, I made the decision to have the mastectomy I felt like I was handling the news well. However, since last weekend I've been falling apart more and more each day. I'm not sleeping well (even with sleep meds), I'm having…

Avastin
Here's a question. A friend of mine has a breast tumor attached to her chest wall. She is getting two different opinions on what to do. One doctor has had her on chemo trying to shrink the tumor so they can operate and get behind it to get it all out. Now another doctor is saying he wants her to try Avastin. Have any of…

Onco appointment following the bone scan
Today I saw the MO. Was hoping that there would be some other options, but it was the same 2 as the RO had. I am going with the chemo Eribulin. It was approved for BC the end of 2010. I don't know of anyone here that is on it, but if anyone is I would love to hear how it is working. I had never heard of it myself, but it…

Good day....my daughter's mammo, my onc visit....
So, finally, my daughter got the official results of her mammo....everything is fine! Because of both her grandmother and mother having breast cancer, her gyn suggested having a mammo yearly for awhile, until a baseline can be established. She has lumpy breasts, so that can be a bit of a trouble. I, too, got good news from…

Bad Lab result - Freaking Out
Last week when I went for my quarterly oncology visit he said that the results of my CBC were normal. In today's mail I got a copy of the results of the Hepatic Panel blood results and I freaked out. The alkaline phosphatase level was substantially elevated and was NOT within the normal range. I know that can mean a…

Tattoo Artist Wanted!
I saw my PS Monday. I was so hopeful he would have great ideas for whipping these disappointing girls into shape. I left very upset. He acted as though, now that its 5 months since my implants were put in, that we're 'done'. I made it clear that I don't think we're 'done' and while he was whipping out his camera for my…

Triple Negative BC
I met with my surgeon today to discuss the MRI results and other things. Had another ultrasound to see the additional "suspicious mass". He did see it on the ultrasound, but he is not too concerned about it because its edges are well-rounded and smooth. So that's probably good news. However, he is conferencing with my…

The Radiation Room
Hey girls, I thought since there are a few of us currently going through radiation treatments I would start a thread titled "The Radiation Room". This could be a common area where we can touch base with each other and post questions to our warrior pink sisters when we need to seek their advice. I am hoping by doing this we…
