anyone have invasive secretory melanoma
My doctors say this is a rare breast cancer and so they are treating me differently than other more common breast cancer patients. I had a lumpectomy in May 2010 with no lymph node involvement, my tumor was .90 and am now having radiation treatment, have 2 more weeks to go. My onco score was 28 which in other cancers would…

small lump beneath skin on expander
Has anyone ever experienced this, my wife found a small pea shaped lump beneath her skin on her expander, we did an ultra sound, they detecteced blood, so they did a biopsy, waiting for results, as you all know we are worried sick about a reoccurrance. She completed chemo April 20th of this year, no rads, was/is triple…

Anybody Else Awake?
I was diagnosed with breast cancer 2mo. ago, & am now on my 4th chemo treatment. It's to shrink my 3cm lump for a lumpectomy. It already shrunk it so small that the oncol. can hardly find it at all. She doesn't believe in narcotics, & is telling me to take motrin 3 times a day for my mouth sores, and body pain. Ha! What a…

I finally had my breakdown
10 months since dx and finished the last of treatments on July 28th. I held up pretty good I believe. I cried once when hair started to fall out, but reminded myself it's only temporary hair will come back. I started to have problems with a capped tooth. I went to my dentist, he gives me devastating news. Seems like the…

Hi all, I asked this question earlier, but thought I would ask again. Anyone have breast ca and then also have a sister with ovarian ca ? My younger sister had breast ca in her mid 40s. She had chemo and rads. I am now trying to sort out a possible ovarian dx. If anyone has a story or history etc. like mine, I would really…

Walking a half marathon next weekend...
Ok, I now have one dose of chemo under my belt. It wasn't a beach party, but after three days of being down, I am now back on my feet...That being said, prior to diagnosis, I signed up to walk the Disneyland half marathon next Sunday. I had considered pulling out, but realized that I would feel defeated in way too many…

extreme mother-daughter bonding....
I'm going to keep this one short & sweet because my head is throbbing & I need to lay down. I thought it was weird that I was 2 months into my breast cancer journey when I accompanied my mom to her follow up mammogram, because they found a suspicious spot. But the feeling I got today, being in the room with my mom as she…

This is on 1in9.org the Long Island Breast Cancer Action Coalition web site. Maybe they could have found a more sensitive way to phrase this: UPCOMING EVENTS September 16 Mets Breast Cancer Awareness Night at 7:10 p.m.

Has anyone had the weather affect your level of pain/swelling?
Today is an unusual day in Arizona--it is cloudy, humid and rainy. And today, my pain and swelling are so much worst than usual. My mom always says her arthritis pain acts up when there's a weather change coming or it's rainy and nasty. Anyone? Hugs, Renee

I was wondering if anyone could recommend books that are helpful. Not sure what to read concerning diet, etc. Not much of cook. One doc says changing diet helpful other say no. Any books that help you get you through. Just not sure where to start. When first go Dx didn't want to read anything. Now that I finished rads I…

Fatigue free?
I was told that either B6 or B12 shots help after you are done with chemo and/or rads to get rid of fatigue. Has anyone heard of this? Is it B6 OR B12. The person couldn't remember. I'm calling my family doctor today and asking her about it. This person said her sister had bc a few years ago and her family doc, NOT onc.…

"Big Girl"
I saw this quote in a mail-order catalog & thought I would share it. "If I have to pull up my big girl panties and deal with it one more time-the elastic is going to break and I really will have to show my a**!" Can't tell you how many times I have been told to "pull them up" throughout this. I wish I would of heard this…

Didnt have rads but i have a question about it
I have seen many of you on here that have had rads. I did not have rads (which im not complaining about) and some of you are close to my diaganosis and have had it. My concern or question is why do some have rads and others dont that are so close in the same area of cancer. Quick version of mine: IDC and DCIS stage II…

Is Tamoxifen taken Premenopausal or Post or both?
I always thought and was told that tamoxifen was for premenopausal women and not for postmenopausal. Yet, I have seen some on here that I would think are postmenopausal, simply by their age. Am I wrong? And, wouldn't the post ones be on another type of hormone therapy? Thanks, Megan

Starting Chemo on Monday
I start chemo in just 4 days! AC-T plus Herceptin. I'll be going in early Monday morning to have my port installed, then go straight over to the treatment center to get my first dose of chemo. I got my hair cut short yesterday, and have "Chemo Teaching" tomorrow morning. I guess I'm as ready for it as I can be. I went…

If your going through hell, keep going.
If your going through hell, keep going. This a quote by Winston Churchill in my Chicken Soup for the Soul for breast cancer patients. I really like this quote. There's a lot of people on this network going through a lot right now. I hope this quote can encourage them not to give up.

Any heard of or tried trail studies
Dx in April of this year with triple negative bc. Tumor in my left breast was large. Started off with chemo, AC. Went back for 2nd round and the doc said tumor had grown. Switch chemo to carbo and one week later blood count went to 0. Went into hospital, which resulted in kidney failure. I had the tumor removed in June and…

Radiation damage to lung
I had radiation to my breast after a mastectomy. A year later I had radiation to my 10th rib on the same side. Now every spring when pollen season starts, I get an annoying cough that lasts for months and finally goes away after low doses of prednisone. Well here it is August and I still have the cough. Anyone suffering…

Bad Journey/Chemo Dropout
I had to stop chemotherapy after one treatment. My immune system went to 0 and I got an infection. I had diarrhea for 10 days. I had an atrial fibrillation attack and had delerium while in the hospital. Now I'm in a rehab center to build back strength and endurance. No more chemo for me! It's not important for me to…

Fur on my face!!! What to do??!!
Okay, so I'm 3 months post chemo, 3 weeks post rads, head hair is coming in gradually, body hair coming in like crazy. Now, I have this fur on both sides of my face--from about mid-ear going toward the chin. I know not to shave it and I think someone said they also had this but it did eventually disappear. How long must I…
