I am thinking of you all, Kindred Spirits, and have something to share with you....
Dearest Kindred Spirits, Not long after I was diagnosed in 2003, I joined CSN. One of the friends I made here was a published author of mystery books, Brenda C. Corbin, screenname Ceezhar. As we so often do at CSN we connected right away; hers was lung cancer, but of course, empathy and friendship is not limited by the…

Newly diagnosed Tram flap bi or unilaterial??
I am 40 and have decided to have a mastectomy done at the same time as the Tram flap. I am agonizing on whether or not to have a uni- or bilateral mastectomy. I am also going to court on Tuesday to start divorcing my husband and insurance will be expensive. I will only be on his policy for 31 days after the divorce. I can…

Strange feeling in Chest
Immediately after my mastectomy, I started having this strange feeling in my chest ( hard to describe). It's like a cool flush or tingle. I thought maybe nerve damage, but two years later I still have it. Doctors don't have an answer. Has anyone else had this symptom?

Wigs and hats/caps with hair
Wife and I went wig shopping last weekend and the shop has a baseball cap with sewn in hair for $100, the velcro one was $75. Has anyone found a site that sells these for less than an arm and a leg? Found Paula Young (No caps) and headcovers.com....they have like a partial wig that you can wear any hat with, but Ruby wants…

Tip for FEMARA Joint Pain
I saw my onc on Tuesday and told her about all the pain I am having in my shoulders and ankles due to Femara. She suggested that I try Glucosamine. I bought the Glucosamine Sulfate 500 mg from GNC and it seems to be working. I have only been taking it for two days and the joint pain is not nearly as severe. Thought I would…

Can we go in the sun?
I was wondering after Chemo and rads if we can go in the sun? I take care of my Grandson, and that calls for baseball practice and games. And today it was wicked hot, and I ended up in the shade on the other side of the field. I'm 8 months out of Chemo and Rads, I still have some problems as far as getting tired but I am…

Oncologist advice - no scan
First consult with oncologist today. I am stage 2a, no nodes, 3cm tumor removed by lumpectomy. The oncologist says he will order a scan if I want one, but seems to believe that the amount of radiation the body receives in a scan is a risk that outweighs the small chance it might have spread (says 1 to 2%). Anyone else had…

I went wigless today....
in public! My first time. I haven't had hair since September. I have a little bit now. It's 90° here, and that wig is HOT! Yesterday I bought a pink Nike hat. My husband and I went out for a walk at a local park, and I wore my hat in public. No one looked at me funny. I actually felt empowered. I can't wait to spike my…

Permanent hair loss taxotere
I haven't posted on this board for a long time (although I often read the posts and silently cheer all you ladies on). I have a specific request: I want to hear from someone else whose hair has either not grown back from chemo they had several years ago, or has grown back but is very thin. I had my last chemo of June of…

Sharing what I found
Hello my BC friends, I found a great APP for your IPHONE (which I do not have LOL) or IPOD TOUCH at itunes. It is called "BREAST CANCER REFERENCE" and it has a pink ribbon for its cover if you look for it. It is in a very simple format and has a lot of terminology we run into with fairly simple explanations, so if you use…

Ok Tamoxifen
Need some pushing, I have to start my Tamoxifen and am dragging my feet, I notoriously do poorly with meds and am nervous. I just finished treatment and am starting to feel somewhat normal, and I know there is no turning back. I am trying to look at it as an improtant ally in my fight and I know I need it. I just hate it.
