New - Starting First Round of Chemo on Thursday
Hi all. Been lurking for a week or two, time to share my story as I'm starting chemo on Thursday. First inkling of problem was visit to ER on 12/18 - thought I had a gall bladder problem. By the time I left the ER I knew I had lesions, and possibly tumors, on both ovaries. I heard the word cancer for the first time that…

The Chris Bledy Book
She wrote the book "Beating Ovarian Cancer" a few years ago, apparently she's been in remission for 8-10 years after one recurrence. (She said 8 years at the time the book was written, a few years ago.) Anyway, she follows some really unorthodox methods, I like to hear of naturopathic methods, but some of these were, well,…

My last treatment is March 21. I'm hoping I will have enough to do a cute pixie haircut by August when we go on our cruise.

Whine time!
Hi Ladies, When I read what some of you have and are continuing to endure, I feel ashamed of myself for ever complaining. I am now on Avaistan alone for maintenance. I took a round of it last Tuesday. This morning when I woke up I ached like I had the flu. What do any of you take OTC for body aches and pains? Mine is mild…

In a funk about CA-125
This is my first actual post, even though I log on here often. I am familiar with many of your stories. Here's mine in a nutshell: I was diagnosed with lllC after a hysterectomy and debulking surgery on Feb. 1, 2011. I had 6 treatments of carbo/taxol 3 weeks apart. I tolerated the chemo fairly well, with the usual…

New doctor and not happy with my care so far
I have recently recurred and midway through treatment my oncologist retired. I am not very happy with his replacement. I want to switch to a new cancer center/medical center, but have very limited options in my area. I don't feel very cared for currently. I have had to correct too many mistakes with the pre-meds I receive…

One more step done
As many of you know I was identified as BRCA-2 positive. I chose to have prophylactic double mastectomies and had the surgery on Tuesday. Everyone with this gene has to make their own decision of the course they want to take. I am told that the majority chose to have more frequent monitoring. I just felt I needed to take…

Low Dose Aspirin Therapy
Does anyone take low dose aspirin to prevent recurrence? I've read that it's being used to prevent recurrence of breast cancer, some newer studies show some success for ov/ca as well. I'm currently on Lovenox for a blood clot, my gyn/onc. said some studies have shown that since Lovenox is a blood thinner, it may help…

Met with my gyn/onc last nite
Saw my gyn/onc last nite to review surgery & latest CT scan. He was completely saddened by my continued growth with OC. We discussed surgery, and he did tell me he would be willing to do it if I want it, but recommended against it. He said there are numerous tumors (small) on the bowel) and didn't want to risk surgery,…

For some of you who think there is no hope in sight, there is hope
I was diagnosed 2 years ago november. my primary doctor told me to sign up for hospice, he called my husband aside and told him to get my things in order that there was not much hope for me. I was sent to a wonderful onocologist and when he opened me up all my organs were stuck together, he was unable to take my uterus or…

Good morning
my precious teal sisters. The pity party is over. I decided to give myself the weekend to mope and put my CA 125 result in perspective. You all kept me afloat these last couple of days. As I stated I tend to overreact but knew I would come to my senses in time. When I tried to talk to my son, he took the father-figure…

Am I a wimp?
Chemo is kicking my butt. I don't know how you all do it, who have had multiple rounds and cocktails. I starting on dense dose taxol/carbo. We had to give up on taxol after two rounds because of severe neuropathy. What I call the fiery knives. It was horrible. I'm on neurontin which has helped but it's not gone. Switched…

;( crappy day...
Sigh, I have tried to submit this post 3 times but no luck. Suffice to say if you see 2 or 3 different topics of this nature, I apologize...each time I try to submit it gets eaten...just disapears or I get moved to a different cancer board...I just give up on it

Can you have bowel issues without reoccurance?
I just had a clean CT scan 6 weeks ago and my CA125 was 14. This last week I have had to use laxatives with little result. Normally I use lomotil once in a while but never need laxatives. Could something be growing that fast or could it be the beginning of an obstruction from scar tissue or some such thing? Has anyone else…

I threw a pity party last night
and you all were almost invited but I decided to wait until I was a little less emotional to share my feelings. I previously posted I was bummed with my CA 125 result and appreciate all your supportive and reassuring responses. I know going from 5 to 8 is not much but like one of you said it is the upward trend that…
