Hair return after chemo
I was diagnosed with Stage 3C ovarian cancer last February (while in the USA) when a tumor perforated my colon during a colonoscopy. Luckily I responded extremely well to Taxol/Carboplatin. My CA125 went from 1587 to 41 after 3 rounds, and I was able to have the debulking surgery at that time. (BEST of all the emergency…

Is there anyone that has not been able to stay working after treatments are done?
I started my chemo in March of 2010 and finished in August 2010. I had gone back to work late April 2010. So, I did maintain my job while going through chemo. I timed it so I would have chemo on Tuesdays and have the rest of the week off and return to work the following Monday. My place of employment was wonderful. But…

Aromatase-inhibitors
Has anyone had experience with a drug called Anastrazole. It is called an aromatase-inhibitor and from what I have read, is used for breast cancer patients. My CA125 has been going up so I had a scan on Friday. There are tiny growths and one enlarged lymph nodes. My medical onc will be consulting with my gyn onc but she…

Do any of you have a medical oncologist rather than a gyn/oncologist?
I read the other night that studies show women live longer with ovca when they have a gyn/oncologist. That is not an option for me, as I would have to drive 150 miles one way to have access to one. I live near Memphis, TN, but there are no drs. in my insurance network. I did go that far for my surgery. I have had 3…

do tumors grow faster than microcopic cells
After disappointing shrinkage from six months of Cisplatin/Adriamycin, I see my onc next week to review PET scans. One general question I have is whether the microcopic cells that have not been destroyed have any different triggers or growth from known tumors. With 2 recurrences in 18 months, I was advised not to expect…

IBS
Hi I was just wondering if anyone has experienced IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) as an "extra" problem and unconnected to OVCA? I have recently had an ultra-sound of my tummy and I have NO ascites yet I become bloated after every meal. I feel full and often get bloating in the evening. But during the day when I am moving…

Well....I think I might live
This last 10 days has been the least fun I've had in a long time. I am way down on pain meds now, though and getting around better. The first two nights home, I had to sleep in the recliner because I have one of those beds that's about 4 ft off the floor, and I'm only 5 ft and have to use a little set of steps to climb in…

Why don't I miss them??
So, after I came back from Canada, I was really depressed because, it really wasn't what I expected. At all. I have this weird feeling that things would be exactly the way they were, like me and my best friend would hang out until 8:00 PM just being crazy and weird, loud, you know, kids... Then I'd go back home, to my mom,…

Frustrated that I just can't do like I used to be able to do...
My focus issues began with my husband's unexpected death last year. Even addressing an envelope was a challenge for me. It's very difficult for me to learn any new information. Even reading for pleasure, I generally have to read something I have read before. Now since I have had this diagnosis and began chemo, it's even…

chemo breaks
Hi, has anyone ever taken chemo breaks. I guess I'm at the point where I can use a chemo break because I've been on constant chemo since last October. It just gets to a point when a person says to themself, I need a rest. Although my dr. hasn't mentioned any chemo break yet, I think, if this treatment doesn't work, I'm…

Goodbye Mom
My Mom passed away at home this morning at 5:30. We will miss her so much. It brings me a small amount of comfort knowing that Mom had no pain, she was just to tired to continue fighting. She fought for 14 months and she gave it everything she had and then some. 24 treatments in 14 months, a clinical trial and surgery. Mom…

Help! Body Aches!
Hello...I just registered and am so glad to have found this place. I was diagnosed with ovca in May when I went to the emergency room thinking I had a bad appendix. Stabbing Pain in Lung/Heart area

I finished by 6th dose os cisto/taxol 8/3 and 8/7 the Dr. admitted me to the hospital with neutropenia (dangerously low wbc) even tho I was taking neuprogen shots to avoid this. Test other than CA125
I once saw something about a test for ovarian cancer, I think it is called HE4? Does anyone know anything about this? Is it available yet? I hate the CA125 test. post surgery questions
Debulking on the 11th. Hysterectomy, omentum and 6" of colon. Doc still put in a port for IP therapy. I remember many of you saying that bowel issues were what made IP not an option. Tonight I am attending my very first OVCA support group meeting.
I am looking forward to this meeting. I have spoken on the phone with 2 of the members. One of the ladies is coming to pick me up, let me ride with her. I'm a little nervous though. A social worker who works with cancer patients and their families is scheduled to speak. I'll let you know how it goes :) Carla
