Shelana posted this question in another thread and re-posting in hopes others may have insight for her. Amy Hi: I have a friend that is battling colon cancer with mets to liver. Recently they implanted a port in his groin area for a procedure where they deliver the drugs (chemo/radiation) directly to the liver to kill the…

Second Chemo Session Started - Hmmm, Houston is This Maybe The Start of The Fun?
Had the second hook-up and now on the pump. First few hours after disconnect of infusion was okay. Came home and had something to drink that was in cooler but left out for an hour or so. When drinking felt like I had something stuck in my throat as if a bit of food, but had not eaten in hours. Took an aspirin about an hour…

Potential solution to neuropathy looks good at Phase IIb trial
called PledOx from PledPharma, supposedly reduces neuro while not hindering efficacy of FOLFOX (further down the road,an Australian company working on something called Cantrixcil for CRC;others being investigated elsewhere include Tivozanib,Xilonix;MCV)

Chemo and blood clots
Hi everyone! Sorry I was gone for so long. I've been in the hospatal from Dec 9 until the other day. If anyone remembers, I'd been asking about blood clots and chemo because I'd had 3 superficial blood clots and was worried. I completed 8 of the 12 suggested rounds of chemo and was miserable with fatigue and neuropathy.…

Hubby is Home - Wow I'm on the other side
Hubby is home and thank you all once again for your prayers and thoughts. This is so different being on this side of things when being a caregiver instead of being a patient. I'm sure that me being a patient wasn't very easy as I'm so emotional anyway, but being on this side of things is totally different. The doctor says…

5 yrs war
For me, it officially began just over 5 years ago. We'll never know exactly when for my wife. She began to obstruct and have diarrhea a month earlier, right after a first trip to Bangkok. (I've still never been to Thailand) At first the dr thought amebiasis, and tried several rounds of antibiotics without success. She lost…

Does anyone feel pain in areas where the Cancer is?
Sometimes out of the blue when a brief twitch of pain appears. It isn't a constant pain. But it can appear in my liver area(I just found out I had a nodule on it) or on my stomach area. It's almost like a fluttering. Thoughts?

Stage iv with metastasis to peritoneum and liver.
I did everything right, I thought I did anyhow. I had a colonoscopy in 2012. It was because I was sharting blood and pus and had God awful gas. The dr. said I had what appeared to be possible IBS or colitis. I was given a 10 pass on my next colonoscopy and given some meds. The first med and the second med didnt work at…

Thank you all for your prayers, concerns, and well wishes. My husband's surgery went well - longer than expected due to scar tissue, but successful. They removed the complete kidney. Just not feeling well. Neuropathy in feet just struck full force out of no where.
I know you'd think after cancer, I'd be running to an orthapedist about my feet but I just dread yet another doctor's visit. My feet have been feeling painful but always tolerable. Some days I even forget that I have pain in them, it's just something you get used to. Today, I stood up and was washed over by general…

How do you know?
My husband Mark has been on new chemo for 2 rounds now. I think its Avastin and i can't think of the other one. He is miserable, never feels good and says often "this isn't worth it". He's pretty depressed but doesn't want an rx for it. I've noticed his skin color is yellowish/grayish and he's just lost his umph. My…

Liver mets: size and number of them?
I'd like to know about liver metastases: both size and number of them, because one surgeon doubts diagnose is ok, how many liver mets do you have and range of sizes? Mom has only 5 liver mets but the size is what calls surgeon attention, the bigger is "central" that is near vena cava 7cm at original diagnose (today it's…

low fiber/residue diet
My current plan of action is to avoid surgery until after I can finish another round of chemo and then portal vein embolization, so about another 6-8 weeks. After that time I would have surgery on both the colon and liver. I have had one bowel obstruction and am a good candidate for another. If I do obstruct again they are…

Fly Little Bird
A couple weeks ago I had my regular CT scan and CEA tumor test. The CT scan came back clear and my tumor marker is staying stable. I finished chemo on July 4th. It has been just about 18 months since they found my small recurrence. In that time I have had major surgery to remove the tiny little less than 1/2 inch…

It's back
No surprise really, but frustrating that it's taken 2 months to figure out. Back in the bones again. Meet with the oncologist tomorrow to see what her plan is. Folfiri I think. She also wants to do a brain MRI to make sure there isn't anything else going on. besides the perforation from the colonoscopy last week, he's been…

12 Folfox treatments and then surgery
I joined this board back in May when I was diagnosed with 4th stage colon cancer. It was in the cecum, 2 lymph nodes, the small intestines, and a couple spots on my liver. I usually just read on here but I have a few questions. After the 12 treatments my Dr decided I was a candidate for surgery. I had surgery 5 weeks ago.…

SCANS AND TESTS
HOW OFTEN IS IT SAFE TO GET PET CTS AND MRIS - IT SEEMS LIKE EVERY CHANCE THEY GET TO GIVE ME ONE THEY WILL - I AM CONSTANTLY GETTING ANOTHER TYPE OF RADIO TEST. I NEED TO HAVE THE SIRT DONE AND THREE WEEKS AGO THEY DID AN MRI OF 200 VIEWS WHICH TOOK 40 MINUTES IN A CAPSULE THAT WAS VERY DIFFICULT FOR ME. NOW BEFORE I HAVE…

Learning to drink cold water while on Oxaliplatin
Mar 22, 2015 - 6:49 am After 5 years of chemo and three rounds of Oxiplatinum I have done experimentations. The greatest experiment that has worked for me was drinking ice water and holding on to two small iced water bottles as long as I could stand the cold in my hands. Drinking ice water before, during and after infusion…
